THIS TREE WILL CLOSE AT 5PM EASTERN ON MONDAY 10/17.

At this point we have about 23 leaves and 10 branch volunteers.  

We have 2 or possibly 3 trunks for this thing.  

If it doesn't get much bigger, it will  not be unmanageable, but please
remember that a full boat (all 6 shows) means 12 tapes or about 10 hours of
taping time!

Sometime next week, the tree structure will be posted here.  

Some of you who volunteered to be branches may become leaves.  Please don't be
offended about this if it happens.  I will most likely select folks with 2
decks over folks with dubbing decks for branching.  It is my belief that the
copies made by a 2 deck setup are better because of the ability to control
input levels.

Please be patient if things don't happen as fast as you'd like.  I am very
busy at work and at home.

You will now have to be very patient while we nail down the tree structure.  

It will work like this:

	Seed:	Dave Levy  (virtual master tapes) 

	  Trunks:  TBD (but I have volunteers from Mystery) (1st gen tapes)

	     Branches:  TBD from volunteers in here  (2nd gen tapes)

		Leaves   (3rd gen tapes)

I have to take some time and try to make sure that the workload is spread out
equitably.

Trunks should hear from me within a day or so.  I will post the rest of the
structure here after I know who the trunks are and we've worked out
distribution details.

Ok!  Here is the tree.  This is 132 columns, so you might want to EXTRACT
it. (I just fixed the formatting this morning...sorry)

I am going to track the progress of this tree in an Excel spreadsheet.  If
the trunks and branches have PATHWORKS and Excel available, you can access
the spreadsheet to update the dates that you got blanks and the dates that
you shipped out filled tapes at \\EZWIND\BG_TREE\BG_TREE.XLS  (This translates
to EZWIND::USER$:[LEVY.BG_TREE]BG_TREE.XLS for the PATHWORKS impaired).  If
not, please send me quick mail messages when these events occur so I can keep
up to date.

There are PostScript files in the share (directory) mentioned above that are
tape labels.  1GEN_S1.PS are labels for 1st generation tapes (TRUNKs and some
leaves) for the first 3 shows.  You get the idea.  The files are:

	1GEN_S1.PS	2GEN_S1.PS	3GEN_S1.PS
	1GEN_S2.PS	2GEN_S2.PS	3GEN_S2.PS
 
The "full boat" takes 8 x 100 minute and 4 x 90 minute tapes.  It works out
like this:

	9/29 - 90, 100
	10/1 - 100, 100
	10/2 - 100, 100
	10/3 - 90, 100
	

A couple of things to note:

	- TRUNKS will be doing some leaf copies

	- I tried to honor your maximum copies requests

	- I tried, where possible, to make it convenient to
	  hook up geographically.  Sometimes this was not
	  possible.

EXPECTATIONS:

	- TRUNKS communicate with their BRANCHES regarding
	  sending blanks, etc.

	- BRANCHES communicate with their LEAF people regarding
	  sending blanks, etc.

	- Only communicate with me *IF* you feel that you are not
	  being treated well or fairly and cannot work it out
	  with your TRUNK/BRANCH/LEAF *OR* if I made a drastic error
	  in what you see below.

	- Honor your committments!!!

I have blanks from one of the TRUNKS and expect the rest by Friday (10/21).

Hi folks.

It looks like my deck may have introduced a problem on  10/3 Set I and 
10/1 Set II.  Tim Grady and Jeff Ceparski have reported a low frequency hum.

If you have this problem on the tapes and want me to re-do it for you, please
send me your tape and I will re-record it.
