I have a customer reporting the following strange behavior on
Operating System Info : Digital UNIX v3.2d-1
Hardware Info : 8400 Server, 2100 Agent
Software Info : PolyCenter Scheduler v3.0-2:
We have a job which refuses to schedule for 07-Apr saying "Job does not
exist". It will schedule for 06-Apr or 08-Apr. Log Follows:
SCHEDULE> show user
Local User Name Access Privileges
--------------- -----------------
sxrmc MANAGER
SCHEDULE> modify job backup_rpts select owner oracle schedule
start_time
"07-Apr-1996 02:01:00"
SCHED-E-NOJOB, Job does not exist
SCHED-E-CMDFAIL, Command failure
SCHEDULE> modify job backup_rpts select owner oracle schedule
start_time
"2-Apr-96 2:1:0"
SCHED-I-JOBMODIFIED, Job BACKUP_RPTS(378) Modified
SCHEDULE> modify job backup_rpts select owner oracle schedule

SCHEDULE> modify job backup_rpts select owner oracle schedule

SCHEDULE> modify job backup_rpts select owner oracle schedule
start_time
"06-Apr-1996 2:01:00"
SCHED-I-JOBMODIFIED, Job BACKUP_RPTS(378) Modified
SCHEDULE> modify job backup_rpts select owner oracle schedule
start_time
"07-Apr-1996 2:01:00"
SCHED-E-NOJOB, Job does not exist
SCHED-E-CMDFAIL, Command failure
Any ideas why the 7th is a bad day - seems any other date works?

This is strange. I'm sure engineering will respond to this and
probably test it, but I'd like to know if you've checked the
other fields related to scheduling for this job, such as (1) days
of the week restrictions, (2) special days restrictions, (3) partition
availability.

| 1052.2 | Something strange about 7-APR-1996 | MUZICK::MORIARTY | Tue Apr 02 1996 11:25 | 14 | |
This is a strange one. Yes it works for other times but not
for 7-APR-1996. I get the same results. We will have to look
into this one, but there is definitely a problem here, a strange
one, very strange. Even worse when I create a job with that
date it returns "duplicate job". There is definitely a bug
here. We will have to take a hard look at it.
I will have someone post a workaround to allow you to continue.
Because we certainly will not have a patch for you in the next
five days.
Sorry the inconvenience, and thanks for informing us about the
problem.

| 1052.3 | Daylight Savings Time | MUZICK::RITCHIE | Elaine Kokernak Ritchie, 227-3089 | Tue Apr 02 1996 12:52 | 11 |
The problem is a combination of April 7th and the time chosen. Here in the U.S., Daylight Savings Time begins the first Sunday in April. Thus, there is no "2:00" through "2:59". Scheduler is not handling this correctly, and we'll put this on our list of things to fix. In the meantime, choose 1:59 or 3:00 to get the job to run. You may have to create a new job, once the existing job is corrupted. Elaine | |||||
