Hello, I've a customer with a (144 slots - 4 drives) jukebox, under OSMS V3.3 OpenVMS VAX V6.1 (this is an installation of OSMS). He uses only 176 volumes (88 slots). He mounts about 107 volumes. JBUTIL show parameter gives: min swap interval 5 I/O rate seed 0. Every 20 minutes, about, with no system activity on the JBAx: drives, the jukebox makes an "inventory" of the slots. (There're no messages "mount verification in progress" or anything else...) I'd like to know if it's a normal behavior or not??? Thanks. Patrick.

| 794.1 | look for something touching all disks | TAPE::SENEKER | Head banging causes brain mush | Wed Feb 26 1997 17:40 | 11 |
Can you give us any more information? Is this a standalone node
or a cluster member? Are the disks mounted locally or /cluster?
Is some other "disk" product or VMS feature running every twenty
minutes that needs to "get some information" from each disk.
No known bugs, but I remember something in the past like this were
a performance monitoring tool was touching each disk causing the
jukebox to act as you describe.

We've checked to-day, with the customer, and we think that a process "control master" of diskkeeper can be the reason: we have some JBA traces in its log files. The customer'll speak monday morning with the support of this product, and we'll have the feedback after that. Thanks. | |||||
