| 58.1 | Review of Boston concert - Nov. 23 | PIPE::GOOD | Michael Good | Mon Nov 25 1991 12:37 | 40 |
| | Bruce gave another fine show at the Orpheum in Boston last Saturday.
It was a mellower concert than the two previous tours I'd seen, but
then again it's a mellower album. There were lots of highlights: a
great version of "The Coldest Night of the Year", a couple of real old
songs ("Foxglove" and "One Day I Walk"), a couple of new rockabilly (!)
songs, and 2-guitar renditions of "See How I Miss You" and "If I Had a
Rocket Launcher" which were outstanding. He played most of the new
album as well, which has really grown on me in the past few weeks.

Here's the set list for those who are interested. * indicates a new
song (written after the songs for the last album):

        Foxglove
        Soul of a Man
        Tokyo
        Lovers in a Dangerous Time
The Coldest Night of the Year
        Somebody Touched Me
        Stolen Land
        Indian Wars
        See How I Miss You
        Great Big Love
        One of the Best Ones
Let the Bad Air Out *
        Mighty Trucks of Midnight
If I Had a Rocket Launcher
        Child of the Wind
        Wake Up Early *
        People See Through You
        If A Tree Falls
        A Dream Like Mine

        First encore:
          Actions Speak Louder
          Waiting for a Miracle

        Second encore:
          Kit Carson
          One Day I Walk

| | I have a tape of a live album by Bruce Cockburn called "Circles in the
Stream." Does anyone know if this is available in the U.S. (I think I
was told it was only released in Canada?), and is it available on CD?
- thanks

| | "Circles In The Stream" was released on LP many years ago by Island.
It's long deleted. No US reissue since then in any format.

Maybe a Canadian noter can tell us if there is a CD up there. I had
seen Canadian vinyl copies as imports back a few years ago when you
    could still get LPs.

| | I got a CD copy of it in Japan last year since I had never seen it on
CD in the USA. So you might have luck with companies or stores that do
CD imports, if you're willing to pay the money. It cost roughly US $20
at WAVE in the Roppongi section of Tokyo (if you happen to get a trip
to Tokyo, this is a *great* store for finding pop and rock albums that
haven't been released on CD in the US yet).

A couple years ago you could find the vinyl version as a Canadian
import at stores like Tower Records and Wood and Strings in the Boston
    area.

The only albums I haven't seen released on CD in the USA are Bruce
Cockburn, Mummy Dust, and Circles in the Stream.
Columbia appears to be re-releasing all of Cockburn's old albums on CD.
Circles in the Stream is one that hasn't come out yet but I wouldn't be
surprised to see it come out locally pretty soon. Here's a list of the
albums and when they were released (the dates of the live albums might
be off by a year or so):
        Bruce Cockburn 1969
        High Winds White Sky 1971
        Sunwheel Dance 1971
        Night Vision 1973
        Salt, Sun and Time 1974
Joy Will Find a Way 1975
        In the Falling Dark 1976
        Circles in the Stream 1978
        Further Adventures Of 1978
Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws 1979
        Humans 1980
        Mummy Dust 1981
        Inner City Front 1981
        The Trouble With Normal 1983
        Stealing Fire 1984
        World of Wonders 1985
        Waiting for a Miracle 1987
        Big Circumstance 1988
        Live 1990
Nothing But a Burning Light 1991

Great list ! But I could not possibly getting all of them,
can you rank these albums from the best rated to the least so
that I can get them in that order. Thanks.

| 58.6 | Still a Bruce Fan, but not of the recent stuff | AIMHI::KERR | Caught In The Crossfire | Wed Oct 20 1993 09:24 | 7 |

This is just a personal opinion, your mileage may vary. But, my two
favorites are "Dancing in the Dragons Jaw" and "Stealing Fire". I
really haven't liked anything since "Stealing Fire", although I don't
    have the most recent realease.

I remember that "Dancing in the dragon jaws" has the classic song
"I wonder where the lions are" and "Stealing Fire" has great songs
like "Lovers in a Dangerous Time" and "If I Had a Rocket Launcher".
    Great recommendation !

Right now I only have the "Humans" which I like very much as well.
"Humans" have great tracks like "Facist Architecture" and
"Rumours of glory". The other tracks are also of high standard
    as well plus good recording.

I have never listened to any of his works before "Dancing in the
dragon jaws" and after "Stealing fire". I need someone to fill
    in my gaps.

Right after "Stealing fire", you have the "World of wonders"
which I've just got. Also a good album.

I think you'll enjoy it. "Call it democracy" and "Dancing in paradise"
    are great tracks.

Did anyone catch the live FM Broadcast of a concert of Bruce
performing songs from his Christmas album yesterday?

I was on the road and only heard the closing credits on WBCN Boston.
