I have questions on the organization Parents Without Partners. Are
there any members out there who can describe a good way to get
involved? I actually attended one of the dances, and then I
attended the orientation and became a member, but have not had
anything to do with it since then. I am too (shy?) to go alone, and
don't know anyone in the program. I want to do stuff with my son and
the organization, and on weekends when my son is with his father I
would like to do some fun stuff, but as I said I am too ... chicken?
Also, I don't drink, so until I meet and know other people, the adult
parties don't seem like they would be much fun.
I have recently moved to Nashua, NH, so I don't know any other
non-drinking single parents out there. Is there such an animal? I
also don't know any babysitters.
Anyone feel free to contact me off line if you can relate.

I am a member of PWP. I'll give you info offline. Meanwhile, are
there are other members (Nashua chapter) out there? It would be nice
to know of other noters that belong to this organization.

I'm a PWP, but not a member of any such organization. I feel too busy
to attend mtgs in Nashua on school nights - I live in Wilton NH. If
someone is familiar with where chapters in SNH exist or parent org to
help form chapter - please post it here. I'd also be interested in
comments people have of mtgs they attended. I "fear" the group is
people desperate for a partner - I'm sure this fear is unwarranted, but
I confess its there and has been an inhibitor for attending mtgs.

I tend to agree with you which is why I haven't been to any of the
activities.
I don't think they are meetings. They are more along the lines of
dances and parties, and bowling and and roller skating, stuff like
that. And it's on the weekends. There are some special meetings which I
don't think there is a big turnout for.
I imagine the people who are single attending some of these dances are out
to have a good time, and only if they happen to be lucky, meet a partner.
But that is not supposed to be the intention. It is not a singles club.
It's supposed to be like a family for single people's families to get
together with each other. If you've been a member for a long time,
I would think you could make some pretty good friends who aren't
couples.
Of course, I asked the questions to begin with, and now I'm trying
to answer yours. (I used to live in Wilton while I was married, not
much going on out there... ;^) They also have people you can go
with if you're too nervous to go yourself, they're called amigos. I
still haven't called anyone yet.
