| 1166.1 | free subscription card at dr offices | AIAG::LINDSEY |  | Wed Oct 09 1991 16:46 | 8 |
|  |
    If you are a new or expectant parent you can get a free subscription
    for a few months. They had the cards in my dr's office. I wound
    up renewing the subscription, but now I am sorry I did because my
    baby is now 2 years old and the magazine is really geared to the period
    of pregnancy, delivery and newborns. Just my opinion.

| | I have been reading the magazine for 2 yrs, even before I got pregnant!
    I love to read it now that my daughter is 13 months, they have a lot
    of info on newborns through toddlers.

| | Is this the magazine that you can find free at various
    baby stores and the like?

| 1166.6 | At least it used to be 6 mos. free | MCIS5::WOOLNER | Photographer is fuzzy, underdeveloped and dense | Thu Oct 10 1991 13:35 | 7 |
| | Yes--at least way back in '84 there were coupons *everywhere* (doctors'
    offices and "nicer" baby stores) for a free 6-month subscription. I
    liked it; I re-upped for a year, at which point it had outworn its
    usefulness (I think it took you through pregnancy to the 1st-birthday
    mark). If your ob/gyn/hmo doesn't have 'em, haunt the stores!

| | I still get this magazine. As a matter of fact, I just got the lastest
    issue the other day. When I get home tonight I'll look through it and
    see if there's a free subscription card inside (usually there is). If
    so, I'll send it to.

| | The reason I asked is because a friend of mine recently placed an ad in
    one of those magazines (and American Baby sounded right) that you find
    everywhere. Her business is called Childbirth Reflections. She video-
    tapes childbirth and sells a tape on 'how to'. She was interviewed
    on the Gary Collins Home Show in late August about her business. Great
    interview. She used to work for me here at Digital and has done well
    with her business.

| 1166.9 | Try Mothercare | BCSE::WEIER | Patty, DTN 381-0877 | Fri Oct 11 1991 14:50 | 5 |
| | Mothercare usually has them for free. Of course they're at the
    checkout, so it'd be awkward to just walk in, grab one and waltz out
    (-:

    There's a Mothercare in the Pheasant Lane Mall, Nashua

| 1166.11 | something to know | STUDIO::KUDLICH | nathan's mom | Mon Oct 21 1991 12:05 | 7 |
| | A short beware, they do sell their list ot any and every one! I have
    gotten on their list twice, as Vudlich and Kudick, niether of which are
    correct, and so have the opportunity to see how far the list goes. It
    is extensive, and includes many phone solicitators at first too...

| 1166.12 | Track the lists, if you can | MCIS5::TRIPP |  | Mon Oct 21 1991 12:24 | 11 |
| | re .11, a friend of my has a method of "tracking" who sells their list
    out, he subscribes to each magazine with a different form of his name,
    i.e., fist intial last name, fist two initials last name, first initial
    second and last names in full etc, you've got the picture by now.

    It's amazing to find out that even you Master card companies will sell
    lists!

    (Is "big brother" really watching?) :-)!!
