| | I'm pretty sure the JC Penney catalogue has petite maternity clothes.

Nashua NH... Give them a call....

    Nashua.

| | I recommend the J.C. Penny Catalog. They have a petite section and the
    selection is great.

I was in Sears this weekend and they too have a nice selection of
petite clothes. I got a pair of shorts for 4.99 and a sleeveless
tank top for 6.99! Even my younger sister thought they were "nice
    looking!"

I'm 5'0 and I know what you mean...I got the JC Penney catalog
but I have to disagree with previous noter....there are only a
few things in there for petite (fall/winter catalog). I just
figured I'd take them to an alterations place...

I cannot believe the prices of maternity clothes...sigh

| | By the way, Maternity Limited in Nashua (actually at the T.J. Maxx
plaza in Tyngesboro) is gone. I don't know if it moved, but I haven't
    seen it anywhere.

Well I should have noted I live in New Jersey and work in NY.
    But thanks for the suggestions.

I ordered the JC Penney Catalog but didn't get it yet - the store
    had very little...

I ordered from a catalog called Mothers Place which seems
to have nice clothes for not much money -average $ 32.99 for
    dresses.

Since they do not cost as much as Macys or some other stores
I figure I can have them altered...

    I'll let you know...

If anyone is interested in this catalog the phone # is 1-800-829-0080

| 1025.9 | too bad | TLE::RANDALL |  | Thu Jul 18 1991 08:44 | 5 |
| | That's too bad about Maternity Unlimited. They were wonderfully
helpful, reasonably priced, and willing to order just about
    anything for you. . .

| 1025.10 | What I did | TNPUBS::STEINHART | Pixillated | Mon Jul 29 1991 10:45 | 40 |
| | I'm petite, too (in height if not in girth - -;).

When I was pregnant I had good luck with men's extra large size
t-shirts and turtlenecks. I wore them like tunics over maternity
jeans or slacks. I think the popular knit leggings would also be
    nice.

If you sew, or know a reasonably-priced seamstress, the pattern
catalogues have some very nice patterns. I was very happy with two
knit outfits I had made. The pattern (sorry - can't rememember which
book) included a simple top with a scoop neck, dropped shoulders, short
sleeves, and a breast pocket, and a straight skirt. I had the
seamstress taper the skirt toward the knee, so it looked slim, and I
had the skirts hemmed high on the calf so I could wear knee-high
stockings. NO WAY was I going to wear pantyhose, nor pay for them. I
had the top and skirt made in the same knit fabric, one in pale green
    and one in white.

I accessorized with beads or a colorful scarf, and felt well dressed for
both work and special occasions. Large earrings also help pull the
    eye upward to the face.

I bought two maternity sweaters - one in red, one in black. They
looked, and felt, much better than formal jackets.

A lot of people, especially men at work, didn't realize I was pregnant
until my fourth or fifth month, which suited me just fine.

It was well worth the money to buy a maternity bathing suit. I got
mine in the spring while they were readily available. Swimming was the
only time I felt comfortable. And I looked nice at the same time.

I got flat shoes for work - grey suede for winter and bone calf for
    spring/summer.

I took pains to get all the spots out of my maternity clothes all
along, and especially when I put them away, since I hope to use them
    again!

| 1025.11 | leggings, yes! | TLE::RANDALL |  | Mon Jul 29 1991 12:17 | 9 |
| | The knit leggings are wonderful -- extremely comfortable, provide
some support for your tired legs. Most of the maternity racks
I've seen have a good selection, and if those aren't good enough,
try the extra-large men's athletic tights.

And they still look nice for those weeks after the baby when you
aren't back to your ordinary clothes.
