| 680.2 | You might have a yeast infection | MARX::FLEURY |  | Mon Feb 04 1991 16:41 | 12 |

    Michelle had Thrush for almost 6 weeks. First the pedi gave her the
    nystantin drops, then had me use the drops on my nipples, then went to
    cream on my nipples (which had to be cleaned off before nursing),
    replaced all pacifiers, and finally treated me for a vaginal yeast
    infection! I didn't think I had a yeast infection, but soon after
    I started treatment, Michelle's Thrush cleared up.

    Thrush can be very difficult to get rid of. It seems like the yeast
    can live virtually anyplcace. Just keep at it, clean EVERYTHING -
    even if it is already clean. It will eventually clear up with allot
    of perserverence.

| 680.3 | apply medicine to the tongue | HPSCAD::JCATINELLA |  | Tue Feb 05 1991 07:26 | 6 |
| | I am sure that you already now this but I thought that I would mention
    it anyway. My doctor told me to give her the drops and that if the
    medicine time coincided with feeding time to use a Q tip and "paint"
    some of the medicine onto her tongue about 15 minutes after the
    feeding. I did this and my daughters thrush went away after about 10
    days.

| | My son Alexander had thrush and his only lasted 5 weeks and he was on
    the drops also. I had to apply them to the sides, & top of his mouth
    plush his tongue. Alex was bottle fed, and it was most likely caused
    from him droping his bottle and putting it back in his moutn before I
    could wash it off.

    But if you are breast feeding maybe you should be check for a yeast
    infection.

| 680.5 | .. and treat the diaper area... | MARX::FLEURY |  | Tue Feb 05 1991 12:06 | 5 |
| | I forgot to mention one more place we treated when Michelle had Thrush
    - her diaper area! She got a yeast diaper-rash. If we hadn't gotten
    rid of the Thrush when we did, I think the next step would have
    been to imerse baby, mother, and all toys in nystantin 4 times
    dayly! ;-)
