| Early thinning or effacement could be a sign of preterm labor.
You might want to check out note 20.* in this conference.
I was 80-90% effaced at 23.5 weeks. I was totally bedridden
for 12 weeks before I gave birth. You may not be as advanced
as I was but the doctor is right to confine you to home just
as a precaution.

| Thanks for the Pointer Jodi, note 20 is very helpful. Mine hasn't been
as scary as yours but I hope the little one hangs in there for atleast
another month!

| I was told last week by my ob that I'm 50% effaced and 1 centimeter
dilated. And I'm at just about 37 weeks. But the doctor told me that
it doesn't mean that I will go into labor soon. He said some women walk
around like this for weeks. And sometimes are overdue too! I have an
appointment tomorrow and I'm hoping that I am even more dilated and
effaced, even though it's 3 weeks early, because I'm so uncomfortable.
I also intend to take my materninty leave a week earlier. Tomorrow will
be my last day. I can't wait any longer!!!!

| Its good to hear I could last for weeks! The way my doctor said I was
a month and a half too earily I figured I only had a couple of
weeks....!

| I was 100% effaced (but not dilated at all) for weeks before finally
having my son - he was 2 wks later than his official due date, in fact.
I was told not to worry/it's normal/etc etc.
