When my son was in the NICU at Central Mass Medical Center (Memorial
Hospital) for 3 months in 94, there were people/nurses who volunteered
there time to hold babies that needed it or had no one else coming to
visit for whatever reason. I was shocked at how many children this
encompassed. There was a full time social worker who would have been
the person who managed this, but I forget her name. If you call the
hospital and ask for the social worker who is in charge of the NICU,
I'm sure you'll get info you need.
