| 1006.1 | first tooth at 1 yr + 1 wk | ASIC::JPOIRIER |  | Tue Aug 22 1995 09:13 | 12 |
| | Kyle too! He didn't get his first tooth until 1 week after his 1st
birthday. The second one came in about a week after that. And within
two months he had all 4 front teeth. He's 18 months now and still only
has the 4 front teeth. The past week+ we've had some pretty cranky
nights and I think he might be finally working on some more. He also
has an ear infection which is not helping. (Maybe the teething and ear
    infection are related, I don't know ??).

I wouldn't worry yet. My pedi wasn't concerned that he was a little
    late in the teeth department.

| 1006.2 | If it's worrying you... | BOBSBX::PENDAK | Have you seen a picture of my son, yet? | Tue Aug 22 1995 09:25 | 12 |
| | Rose, in my opinion, if it worries you then call the pediatrician!
That's why they're there. Of course they'll tell you that it's normal,
that *some* kids don't start teething until ~ months.... But don't
worry about what they think at the pediatrician's office if it's
    something that is worrying you.

Otherwise, I have no help regarding late teething, Aaron is almost 7
months and yesterday his second bottom tooth broke thru!

    Good luck.

| | My sons each got 2 teeth and 9 months and then no more til after age 1.
They certainly were able to chew quite well on those strong gums, so
you may want to consider giving her some of the foods your 2 yr old is
eating. You'd be amazed at what they can do!

| | I've been saying for over a month now, "someone should tell Angeline
she has no teeth". She's been gumming everything to death. Wants
no part of that sissy baby food.

She did just get her first tooth Sunday, three weeks shy of her
    first birthday.

| | Carrie was 14 months before she got a tooth. (Fine with me as she was
nursing and it helped avoid the inevitable biting battle.) Kids little
gums are quite efficient and she ate just about anything cut up small
    enough for her to gum.

| 1006.6 | Yep, no teeth! | GENRAL::WILSON |  | Tue Aug 22 1995 14:37 | 12 |
| | Little Megan will be a year old in 2 weeks, and yep, no teeth. Unlike
her brother who had a tooth poke thru at 5 months.

She turns her nose up at baby food, so she gets everything we eat, even
pork chops and steak cut up in tiny bites. (I love that reaction they
have as soon as we eat something....just like a little bird with their
beak open!) I was hesitant at first since she doesn't have teeth, but
    she's done fine with everything.

Our pedi dentist insists she'll have great teeth when they finally come
    in!

| | Thanks everyone. I don't feel like she's the only 1 year old with no
teeth. It's hard when people ask how old she is (she's small for her
age - only 35% of height and weight) and then see she has no teeth,
then ask me if I'm kidding! ???... She is a very good eater so I
think I'll be a little more adventurous. Your right, they do get
excited when they see big people food and smile a big gum full smile.

| | Rose,

I think we can all attest to that feeling when people question the
lack of teeth, not walking???, not crawling????, doesn't say Ma Ma???,
not feeding themselves???.... their almost always followed up with an
example baby that has been doing it for *months*. :-)

For a second it hits home, but you can get right past it. The
hardest thing is not to get defensive. I went through it with an
aunt "comparing" my daughter with her grandson. It was the first
time I let someone "get" to me. But she's real good at that anyways.
I probably huffed "they all have their own timetable" in a manner
more forceful than my usual outlook. I usually do not mind my
daughter's progress at all. It will all come in time. I'm not in
a hurry, I'm savoring every single second I can.

I remember being hesitant to feed too many solid foods before teeth
came in, but then the pedi pointed out to me "You'd be giving it to him
if he had front teeth, and they don't chew much with the front - and
it's a long while before they get molars. If he's interested, feed
him!" Obviously with a "keep it safe so he doesn't choke" addendum,
but think what your 2-yr old has been eating for a yr+ and when she
    really got her first molars.

    Jonathan just broke his eye-teeth (2yrs in 3wks), I don't expect his
    2-yr molars till he's ~2.5...

    cranky was your daughter? 8^)

| 1006.13 | It's begun! | CSLALL::JACQUES_CA | Crazy ways are evident | Tue Sep 05 1995 08:27 | 16 |
| | Angeline finally broke out one tooth, and then another - six days
apart - bottom front. The top two are just straining to break
through. The bottom corners of them have her gums so stretched!
But she is being really good. I didn't even notice her second
one was on the way! I think probably because she had a very nasty
head cold for two weeks that encompassed these teeth coming out.

And before anyone says it, :-), I know they get symptoms of colds
when they teeth. But trust me, she had a cold on top of it because
mommy has been sick for two weeks since. Unless I've got "sympathy
teething" :-). I expect her symptoms were doubled though due to
    the teeth.

Just in time to eat her birthday cake this weekend!

Re how cranky was she.. when they came out she wasn't bad.. she
was fairly cranky the week before when we didn't know what was
wrong...Tylenol helped - she hated oragel...

Funny because since I wrote that note my son cut the 4 teeth
on top this week...he had the two bottom since 6 mos but now
at 11 months he will have 6..so he beat out his sister..
