This may not be the appropriate file to ask, but the audience might
be quite knowledgeable, so... Is anyone familiar with a program
( or a pending bill) called 'Americorp'?. From what little my niece
has been told, it is ( will be, was..??) a National program for
college bound students that provides tuition relief in exchange for
community service in the U.S. It sounds similar to the dated 'Vista'
program. I haven't gone to the library yet, or made my calls to (MA.)
Kennedy's Edu. office, but am using all my sources to obtain (maybe,
    first-hand) info.

| I don't know about the name, but I know that many students from Tufts participated in such a program over the summer. I believe you get $1000 towards tuition, and get paid minimum wage (or just slightly higher) to work in community programs. They liken it to a US Peace corps. Sorry I can't provide any more info, but I through out the newsletter that contained the article about Tufts students. Karen | |||||
