| | I think with meningitis he would have a raging fever. It could just be
the by-product of the cold/virus. On the other hand, Daniel (same age
as James) had mono last spring, and exhaustion is a key symptom of
mono. A blood test can help answer the question.

    Good luck,

| | He could be anemic, my 10 month old recently was, and was put on
vitamins. (I don't know why he was anemic, he takes iron fortified
    formula.)

My 3.5 year old frequently says he's very, very tired, and
occassionally complains that his back hurts. He doesn't act like
he's tired or hurting, though. I think he's just imitating me!

A virus, or the flu, could cause tiredess and aches. It always
    does with me.

Please let us know what the doc says.

| | A cold and flu has been lingering in our house the past week or so.
Both my husband and I complained of a dull ache in our backs and have
attributed it to the cold, since neither one of us can remember doing
anything out of the ordinary to cause a backache.

Also, we have both been very very tired as well.

Looks like it something going around since others in the office have
    had the same symptoms.

| | The pedi saw James yesterday and said that the backache is probably
a muscle pull. After thinking about what happened over the weekend,
I think that is probably right on: James helped Uncle Dan load
firewood into the wheelbarrow, then he and I went bowling on Sunday,
etc. So he is probably a pretty sore kiddo.

As regards the fatigue, the dr. said it is probably from the cold.
He said it could also be hay fever. He's seeing more cases of
hay fever this year than ever before and in younger kids, too. He
said that what people seem to hate most about hay fever is the
fatigue, not necessarily the runny nose, watery eyes, etc.

Come to think of it, I've been dragging it this week myself.
It could also have something to do with the days becoming so much
shorter (at least here in New England): It's now dark at 6:30 p.m.,
and daylight saving time ends in three weeks (Halloween). So there
could be a lot of other things going on.

I'll call the day care provider and see if James is still taking his
little multivitamin every day. I used to give it to him in the a.m.,
but it tended to give him a stomach ache.

Maybe we need a little Mommy-ization here....a couple of days at
home with Mom and/or Dad could improve his outlook, too.

Thanx everyone for your concern. Sometimes I feel my sitter tends
to make more out of things than necessary -- but that may be
    preferable to minimizing real concerns!
