    I broke a bottle of BROWN amaretta on my light grey carpet, and
    this was the only thing that took the whole stain out !!
    
    It costs about $12.00 for a large bottle.

    Try Goo-gone, thanks to someone's suggestion in the previous version of
    these notes.  So far it has helped with Crayon melted into car carpet,
    Christmas tree sap on the carpet, stickers on shirts *after* they've
    been through the washer and dryer cycle.
    
    I actually brought in a bottle to the office, to take sticky labels off
    of the plastic tickler wall files.
    
    I bought it at K-mart, but I think most major dept. stores carry it.  A
    little goes a looooong way.  Where are you, wan't to borrow one of my
    TWO bottles?!?!

   Resolve Carpet cleaner successfully removed a large spot of blue crayon
from my light sand colored carpet.  I was amazed at how easily it came up.

    	It's not crayon, but it is a baby related stain.

    	We recently had some bottle nipples soaking in water and then
    poured some spaghetti sauce into the sink, we now have nipples that are
    stained orange. They still wash well, it's just that they look so
    dirty.

    	Does anyone have a trick for getting rid of spaghetti sauce stains
    on plastic?

    I, too, have crayon on my brand new carpet.  After reading the 
    replies to this note, I tried Resolve and found that it faded
    the blue-green to an acceptible level, but turned the magenta
    into a pinkish-orange smear.  I tried hairspray, to no avail.
    Maybe I'm doing it wrong?  .2 - How did you use the hairspray?
    
    I don't think goo-gone is the answer, because it's not really
    sticky or anything, but I'll try it.

    In a state of mental confusion I placed my husband's tar-covered
    jeans in the dryer!  And completely coated the inside of my dryer
    with tar.  It was a hideous moment in my life.  After the man at 
    the hardware stopped staring at me in disbelief, and regained his 
    composure, he suggested a product called GOOF OFF (accurate name) and 
    it worked like a charm.  Smells hideous and can be damaging to certain 
    vinyls but it takes out lots of things.  Next time in the hardware store
    check the label.  Might work.

    We bought some of the newest product out there, Carpet Science.  Claims
    to get rid of even old stains.  and it does!!!!  Got rid of a old vomit
    stain that had been outside my son's room for over a year, and my
    husband used it at our condo and got rid of juice stains that didn't
    come up with professional cleaning.
    
    It's not terribly cheap -- 2.99-3.50 -- but for what it does it's well
    worth it.
    
    now to see if i can use it in my car to remove ice cream, yogurt, juice
    stains -- and that's WITH the seats covered!

    You've probably already solved this problem, but for tomato stains
    on nipples and such: 
    
    Sometimes soaking them in a solution of dishwashing liquid and
    water will help.  Mix it up a bit stronger than you'd use for
    dishes and let them soak for about 20 minutes. 
    
    If they're still stained, try boiling them.  Just pour some water
    in a kettle, drop the nipples in, and cook them like eggs for a
    few minutes (about 10 is usually good.)
    
    If that doesn't work, Spencer will just have to get used to orange
    nipples :)

    re.13 -- I got my first bottle at Finast [Acton], then got more at
    Ames.  It's a yellow spray bottle.  Right now they even have a $1.50
    rebate on them -- not bad!

Thanks for all the answers -- unfortunately I haven't had time to
try any, but will soon.

    We have some silly putty on our carpet.  We picked out what we could,
    but couldn't get it all out.
    
    Does anyone have a suggestion of what to do about it?

    You might want to try ice like you would if it were bubblegum.
    The ice freezes and hardens gum, making it easy to chip apart
    and remove. I would think Silly Putty would react quite the
    same.

    After doing the ice bit, you can heat up an iron and use a papertowel
    to absorb the crayon.

    I did this once...  Not the silly putty, but a crayon.
    Use the iron trick described in -.1, but try using a damp
    washcloth instead.  Those little terri-nubs suck up all the
    'spooge' (fill in your fave substance).  :-)

    I hope somebody in here can help me with this problem before my husband
    has a coronary over it. Here's what happened:
    
    Last night, after the two girls had been out sledding for the
    afternoon, I figured I'd better dry their outer clothes (jackets and 
    snowpants) so they would be all set to be worn to school today. The
    girls are 8 and 10 years old. So, I popped all wet stuff in the dryer
    and went to bed...
    
    This morning, we found that a BIG BLUE CRAYON had been left in one of
    the jacket pockets and had gotten all over the clothes, ruining them.
    
    BUT, the bigger problem is that the crayon is now melted all over and
    into the drum of our year-old dryer, rendering it unusable for
    anything.
    
    
    Does anybody know how we can get baked on blue crayon out of our
    dryer??? 
    
    I would be extremely grateful for any help...

    Crayons are like wax aren't they?  I would think that you could just
    scrape it off like hardened candle wax...????

    If it resists scraping, try placing an ice cube on it for a minute or
    so. That should firm it up enough to scrape it off the surface. 
    
    However, if your dryer drum is perforated, you might have a bigger 
    problem, since the crayon has likely seeped thru the holes and built up
    on the outer surface of the drum. Cleaning this is a little more
    complicated, since you'll have to remove the front of the dryer
    to access the drum. It's not a difficult thing to do if you or your
    husband is moderately handy with tools. Your owner's manual might even
    have instructions for this step. Once removed, you should be able to
    remove the crayon in the same way you removed it from the inside. You
    may also want to check the heating elements and other internals for
    gobs of melted crayon.

    Call Crayola.  I don't have the number, but know they have a hotline
    just for this sort of thing.  I remember seeing the information in one
    of the newsletters that my diaper service sends out.

    Can anyone with getting out a green stain caused by construction
    paper (wet) left my dining room hard wood floors.
    
    I've tried Goo Gone, Vinegar, Fantastic, but so far, nothing works.

    depending on your finish, you may need to use anything from a household
    bleach, to removing the varnish, to a wood bleach to remove the stain. 
    This is a time to see a wood refinishing expert, which I am not.
