My family and I are members of Dyer Woods Nudist Campground
in Foster RI and have enjoyed it for 9 years so far. My eldest
son is going through puberty which has caused my wife some
concern.
Neither my wife, my son or I have any concern over nudity,
feeling that it is a natural and enjoyable state. What my wife
fears is that my son might be very embarrassed by an erection
in a public environment. He has both a textile girlfriend at
home and a nudist girlfriend at camp.
This issue has been addressed in this notesfile, but not as it
applies to a young developing person. I think that some of the
more intellectual approaches may be lost on a teenager.
Anybody have any real experiences to draw from?

Gerry,
I don't have any *first hand* experience, because my children are
not nudists/naturists (their mother would DISOWN them ;') But
in my experiences in Solair (which has a fairly large teenage and
preteen population), when children reach the age of about 13 or
14, they start spending a lot more time at camp Clothed. When they
are at the beach, or on the raft together, they are required to
be nude. They sometimes appear self-conscious, even though most
of them are lifelong nudists. Also, when they are in the Youth/
Teen-only building (which is on the beach), they are almost invariably
clothed.
As far as erections are concerned, the teenaged boys spend a lot
of the time that they are at the beach, or on the raft, lying on their
stomachs! 8-}
I'm sure your son will work it out. You are fortunate to have a
son who is open enough with you to discuss the situation, and willing
to listen to your input. The best to all of you!
