| Just an update, since it is almost a whole month later. Scuff is
showing signs of the fur returning. He is dark grey in color so
at first I thought he had gotten the spot awfully dirty, upon closer
inspection, it was fuzzy not dirt.
When I had returned to the vet to show him the fur loss, I had managed
to get a urine sample the nite before. He ran tests that showed
crystals (?) in the urine and it was very concentrated. We also took
blood (never had that done before) and that showed elavated BUN level
and one other thing. He suggested a change in diet (low protein) and
about week and a half later I ran another urine sample in and the
crystals were gone. We are going to do the blood sample again a little
later this month. I'm surprised Scuff likes the food but it made me
realize how high the protein is in the Fancy Feast flavors he loved.
He had also lost 1/2 a pound that was worring me, I think we're back
on track now.

| If they pull blook again, ask about the hemacrit or Packed Cell Volume
(PCV). A symptom of anemia is very slow fur growth, and if Scruff is on
a low protien diet due to again kidneys, he could be borderline anemic.
If he is anemic, chances are that they can boost that with something
like pet tinic (an iron/copper supplement).
