| | Hi,

The attached is from a very old (over 3 years old) list of the no-kill
shelters in this area. Since the list is so old, I can't say if
the shelters still exists or if they are still No-Kill shelters.
But just ASK alot of questions if you do call them. The sad news is
most good no-kill shelters are always full and have a very long list
of cats waiting to be rescued. good Luck....

| | A SHOW KEY/FULL NO* brought up the following notes keyworded
    NO_KILL_SHELTERS: 338.2, 445.0, 596.0, 675.0, 675.5

Of those I believe only 338.2 lists an actual shelter name.

P.S. The San Francisco SPCA is no-kill. Got that straight from
one of the people who was manning one of their adoption
stands here on Market Street. These folks are smart. They
set up these stands in the financial district and catch
everyone when they come out for lunch.

Thank you for replys; it's a start! I am heartbreakingly aware
of the whole pet overpopulation in and out of all the shelters,
and yet hope so much we can get Slick placed in a no-kill.

My friend fears she will have to have him put him to death (I don't
believe in saying put to sleep... sleeping implies waking up.) if
something doesn't come up over the next few weeks. (I don't agree
    with her thinking on this.)

    Again, thanks for the help!

| 812.4 | a good no-kill shelter | POWDML::CUNNINGHAM |  | Fri Oct 14 1994 08:26 | 8 |
| | Hi,
This is the first time I've written, and hope to participate more. I am
a supporter of the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem MA. I got my two
sweet kitties there almost 2 years ago, and send the shelter donations
every month or so. They do NOT KILL animals. In fact, one of mine had
been a stray kitty - she was a mess when they got her, infested and
infected with just about everything. I have only good things to say
about this shelter. Let me know if I can help.

| 812.6 | No luck so far... | TPSYS::HAMPSON | Nurture Nature | Fri Oct 21 1994 13:08 | 19 |

Well, my friend has not had any luck with the no-kill shelters she's
called so far. Thank you for the no-kill shelter info so far... keep
    them coming!

I'm really worried about Slick's fate... for one thing, he's had a good
home for the two years of his life, but if she can't find him a home
soon, she says she'll have to put him to death. For another thing,
Slick has a special skin problem that makes his coat kind of
wet-looking nearly all the time, thus he's not the prettiest cat
around and I fear that doesn't help his situation any.

Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Donna
