| | Bob...thanks for caring!!!! Your story sounds so much like when
we rescued Dewey from the Junkyard. The poor little tyke was about
9 months old...but was barely 4 pounds and only looked like he was
3 months old. He as so sick and undernourished, the vet said his
changes were slim...but with alot of caring and love...BIG Dewey is
now 4 years old and weighs close to 17 pounds and is my biggest baby!!

Please provide us updates and keep us posted. Lucky is sure lucky
    to find you!!!

| | God bless you, Bob, for your unselfish caring. Here's wishing Lucky
    the best of luck.

My mind is very quick to conjure up images of little kitties sitting
in the middle of the road, alone, sick, and frightened. Thank goodness
there's people like you to give this sad image a potentially happy
    resolution.

(God____ stupid, thoughtless people who dump helpless kitties like they
were so much garbage. There is a special place in hell for those
humans where the fires are bright and hot and where they are dumped
    for all eternity.)

Please keep us informed. I'm sure we are all hoping for a happy
    ending.

When I was a little kid, one of my favorite books was "Lucky, the
Famous Foundling". I think the book was published by Look magazine
(long gone, it was Life's main competitor). It was about a puppy found
in much the same circumstances as your Lucky. Lucky was nursed back to
health and became famous as the subject of a Look photo essay.

I hope your story ends as happily.

| | GREAT!! Sure hope she makes it O.K.... Be SURE though, to have her
given a rabies shot!! In that paret of the state there have been
numerous rabid racoons, so the shot for ALL cats is a really necessary
    thing.

| 699.6 | she ate this morning | VAXMK5::BROWER |  | Tue Feb 01 1994 09:34 | 7 |
| | Latest report was that she drank water on her own this morning.
She also wolfed down 3/4 can of catfood. From talking to my wife it
sounded as if she'd been to a vets before. She said she yowled real
loudly when she walked in with her. Before then she'd never made a
    sound.

| 699.8 | She's doing real well | JAMVAX::BROWER |  | Fri Feb 04 1994 09:07 | 8 |
| | The last I heard Lucky still had a lot of congestion but was doing
very well. She's started to groom herself and has a good appetite.
She's still obviously being kept apart from the other 7 cats in the
house. Leastways until the vet can give her a clean bill of health.
She loves to be handled and melts into your arms when you pick her up.
She seems to be a very happy kitty now.

| | Well Lucky is doing super!! When I dropped my children off at my
ex's on Saturday she asked if I wanted to see her. She looks excellent
compared to a week ago. My oldest picked her up and she rolled over on
her back in her arms nuzzeling like crazy. One thing I hadn't noticed
when I first found her was the flat almost pushed in nose. My ex's
boyfriend swears she's all or part Burmese. She's still very underweight
for a kitty. The vet figured she's close to a year old yet she's 1/2 the
size of my 2 boys who are both under a year old. My kids told me
yesterday that my ex had her up in her bedroom. Lucky got a chance to
see herself in a full lenghth mirror. She talked a little bit at the
reflection then gently tried to tap it. I think she's part Lab as I've
heard that she uses her paws a lot when begging for attention, claws
retracted of course. So it looks as though she out of the woods with
her immediate health problems. She'll be tested for any nasty diseases
    at her next vet visit.

| 699.11 | Lucky is ready to be placed | JAMVAX::BROWER |  | Mon Feb 21 1994 05:21 | 20 |
| | Well Lucky had her vet visit last week. Needless to say the vet
was very pleased at the progress she's made. He figures she's actually
around 6 months old and is 1/2 persian. She's been given her first
shots and given a clean bill of health. Her weight is now 5 pounds!!
He's dubbed my ex the miracle worker. There're 2 parties that have
expressed interest in her. Whichever party agrees to take her will have
to agree to keep her as an indoor only kitty. We figure she's been
stressed enough by spending far too much time on her own at too young
an age. I had a chance to visit with her for an hour on Saturday and
she's really a sweet kitten. My youngest daughter ,who I'm afraid has
grown quite attached, was playing with her. It was gratifying to see
her romping around after having seen her so sick just a month ago. She
loves to be held sleep on laps and is a face nuzzler. So she'll make a
great companion for whomever takes her. Now if only I could find the party
that left her. Then again the thoughts I harbor are against the law and
my nature anyway. In the event neither of the parties expressing an
interest pan out I'll post an entry in the adoption note.

             Bob
