My old boy (18) Merlin (of "mixed" Siamese parentage) did this for a
few years after his stepsister Wabbit passed away. He would stop if
I picked him up and let him sit on/near me. Since I have added three
kittens to the family, he's stopped doing it.

| Maybe he's just turning into a curmudgeon, and this routine is him
'grumbling' like an old codger, only in Siamese lingo? ;-) Sorry, I
couldn't resist!
Len, didn't Merlin grumble for a while when the "kids" showed up?
I used to have an old guy that did this. He'd walk around with his head
sort of low, and just talk to himself. We decided it was just an old
man grumbling! Of course we decided this after extensive testing to
make sure he wasn't sick! 8-{ Vet said he was most likely talking to
himself like some old folks tend to do! Expensive diagnosis of
senility! 8-) Oh well, at least he wasn't sick!
My mother-in-law (81) talks to herself constantly!!

| Thanks for the ideas.
Yes grumbling is a good term for it. Chang, (the cats name), can drive
you nuts some times by just walking around merulping, but the thing is
that its not all the time. You can go for a few days Ok then he starts
again and typically it will be in the evening but can happen any time.
Oh and its not that he wants attention, because he wont stay on your
lap during these times, but saying that he likes being fussed over
especially if you are reading a book or paper, and is a real comfort
lover.

| That's partly why I thought it might be grumbling. Since it's not all
the time. Maybe he gets into modds! ;-) My old guy wasn't looking for
attention when he did it either. As a matter of fact, if I tried to pay
more attention to him at these times, the grumbling actually got worse!
He's start muttering on top of the grumbling!
I felt like my Grandpop was muttering at me! You know, "young
whippersnappers, can't leave an old man alone!" ;-) Cracked me up once
I knew he was physically OK though!

| Now that Mr. Meow (17 years old) has some freedom from his
cage and/or room...we hear this strange howling. We go find
out what all the noise is about and we will find Mr. Meow
sitting on my sink in the bathroom...howling at himself in the
mirror.
Go figure....it must come with age. Of course Mr. Meow
spent 17 years as an out door cat...so my guess is he
is getting the urge to go back out now that he is
feeling alot better.

I have a problem with my Simese, He's about 4 months of age full of
energy, very alert. He seems to have an attitude problem, my wife
brought him home from an animal shelter, and at first he was partial to
her. Now he partial to me and wont even let her touch him, nor anyone
else for that matter. He gets very violent when anyone gets near him.
I really don't know what to do with him. I'm attached to him and I
don't want to get rid of him. He is only liked this with adults, hes
fine with young children, he'll even tollarate toddlers tugging on him.
I'm wondering if he'll grow out of this on do i have to sadate him.
