| Softpaws? Are they the sheaths to cover the claws to stop scratching?
I don't have any experience of them, but saw a poster at the vets on
Saturday. My reaction was, how long would they stay on. I can imagine
my cat pulling them off in his mouth and spitting them down the john.

| Yes, they are the 'sheaths' for the cats claws. They are supposed to
last for about 4 - 5 weeks. I believe they are attached with some kind
of glue. It doesn't sound easy, does it...

| I should think it would just be easier to clip the cats nails every
other week or as needed. :')

| I know there's at least one noter in this file whose kitty has 'em, so
excuse me, but when I saw the poster at our vet's I howled with
laughter. Puh-leeeeeze!! Here's a nice chunk of change I really need
to spend, huh? And all the cats I've ever known work very diligently
at getting their claws sharp and smooth as needles (cutting [trimming]
the claws just makes the cats go into a frenzied sharpening mode).
I'll never test this, but I just *know* my kitties would react to these
things the way I react to gum on the bottom of my shoe...
Of course, when my daughter was born I felt the same way about how
those !@#$%^ maternity ward nurses always covered up her hands. To me,
these Lee-press-on-claws have a lot in common with swaddling!

| I want to do this mainly because I have a male cat that I brought into
the household back in April. I have 2 other girls and both are
declawed. This guy has been a trip and a half since I had him--not so
much damaging the furniture, but going after the girls and beating them
up pretty bad. We've had some uuuuuuuugly scenes at my house over the
past few months.
Anyways, he is crated (a big cage) every day before I go to work. he
hates it but I have no other alternative but to lock either them or him
up somewhere. So my plan was to try these softpaws for a couple months
and gradually start letting him out of his crate more and more when I'm
not home. Hopefully if he attacked them then, damage/terror would be
minimal.
If you do know of the noter who uses them, pls send me their name,
because I really am interested in these, at least temporarily.

Well, I have them on my cat Spike. And Im sold on them.
I had a problem with him clawing my new furniture and speaker
fronts and I didnt want to declaw him so I had some soft paws
put on.
I feel it made a big difference. He ran his paw down my face
with claws extended and it was just fine.
The do only last about 4-6 weeks and then you have to replace
them because they fall off as the claws grow. You apply them
with a superglue that comes with the kit. I believe the kit
was $18 for 4 sets.
The only drawback I can see right now is that when they were put
on the first time I had the vet do it and I held Spike while she
put them on. Now he's home and Ill have to do it on my own. I
may invite a friend over some nite and get them to hold or apply.
I think it would be quite a job doing it alone.
