| Hi Di....
The Pat Brody shelter has a barrell at the Victory Market in
the Twin City Mall in Fitchburg. We have tried to do this
in other Victory Markets and other local supermarkets...but
have had no luck. We do appreciate what this particular
Victory Market does for us...

| The Shaws in Stratham, N.H. (I live in Exeter) has a box for the SPCA
(It looks like a doghouse). I try to put something in it everytime I
go there. Sometimes there will be a note requesting paper towels, dish
detergent and other non-food/litter items. Over the years various SPCAs
have helped me out with strays I couldn't ignore so I am glad for the
chance to return the favor.

| The Purity Supreme in Chelmsford used to have a bin for the shelter(not
sure which one). But since they have redecorated I don't know
anymore. I always used to give them some of "Stinky's food".

| A lot of grocery stores in southern NH have bins out front for various
organizations. Some are for "soup kitchen" types of places, others are
animal oriented. All depends on when and where you shop.
Personally, I prefer to drop off items directly to the group in need.
I like to see exactly where my donations are going. My only problem is
I can't visit Humane Societies without fear of having a kitten (or two)
follow me home. :^)

I think this is an excellent idea and wish that there were more stores
that did do this. The Lancaster Humane shelter also has one at
Donelan's supermarket in Littleton, I always make it a point to either
do my entire grocery shopping there or just a couple of things, just so
that I can put food in the bucket.
I usually split the food, cans or dry boxes and put half in the bucket and
the other half I keep for my local shelter that I personally deliver.
I used to shop at a store that was more convient on my way home from
work but they don't have a bucket (maybe I should make the suggestion.

| Just want to set the record straight on the name...
It's Volunteer Humane Society/Nashoba Valley Humane Society -
they use both names. I believe they started using the second
name when they moved their base of operations from the Acton-
Boxborough vicinity to Lancaster.
Incidentally they're next door to the Lancaster Animal HOSPITAL.

Did you guys want me to change the name of this topic again? I'll
be happy to do it but I think the complete name listed in 378.6 may
be longer than the space allowed. If you can suggest something
