| 343.1 | My first Korat had a kink... | BUSY::MANDILE | American take a Jerk-pill Week | Wed Jul 29 1992 10:19 | 11 |
| | Er, um.....I guess all my cats are dummies...They will walk
voluntarily into the carrier. In fact, they fight over who
    gets in first!!!

    BTW, Cheryl-

You have a Korat kitten with a kink in it's tail? That's not
bad news.....in Thailand, that kitten would bring extra good luck!
The kink is a symbol of good luck in a Korat...

    sweetheart!

(If I can't keep 'em all, I'll get relatives to start getting them!!
    ;^) )

If I'm not mistaken, most if not all Siamese have kinks in their
tails... My late buddy, Rama Thai, had a distinct kink and the most
adorable crossed-eyes... I don't know that much about showing, but I
was told by someone that it was a minor fault for a Siamese NOT to have
    that distinguishing kink..

not really. It is a fault of the breed to have a kinked tail or to be
cross-eyed. Neither flaw makes a bad cat, but they do make a "pet quality"
rather than breeder or show quality cat. Both characteristics are quite
common in the breed and only the most careful breeders can consistently
avoid them.

| | I heard that both of those characteristics have been bred out. My
siamese has the kink in his tail, but no crossed eyes. He had big
*round* eyes. In the household pet show I've taken him to one judge
loved him, kink and all because he was like the old siamese. One judge
didn't like his kink. This was a household pet show-give the poor baby
    a break!:-)

I've known Pat Senser (Siamese breeder) for four years now, and
to my knowledge, she's only had one crossed-eye and one kinktail
in her many litters, and not in the same kitty. The crosseyed
boy was *gorgeous*, I thought :^} She sold them both as pets.
