    I DON'T WANT TO START ANOTHER CONTROVERSIAL NOTE, SO PLEASE BE KIND
    NOTHING NASTY ABOUT VAN DRIVERS.  THIS ONE STOPPED AND WAS VERY NICE.
             (Justification for the indoors only lobby.)
    
    Christopher Robin got himself hit by a van, ran right into the rear
    wheels.  As the weather was so nice on Saturday, we had let the cats 
    out for a while and we sat with them.  When the sun went down we started 
    to herd them in but they didn't want to go--running in four different
    directions at once and we were only three people.  Now, Chris can 
    run like a racehorse and just about as fast.  He just took off
    across the garden, through the trees and right out into the road. 
    The poor driver didn't have a chance of seeing him.
    
    Christopher's the cat who, last month, was attacked by my 
    neighbors dogs (note 256, which became a most controversial note.)
    Right now he's at our own vets, again, bright and interested, resting in an 
    oxygen box with another collapsed lung and a chest full of air that 
    has to be drained off every so often, getting the best of care and lots 
    of attention.  
    
    I can't say enough good things about the care that both Chris and I
    received at the Acton (Mass, USA) Emergency Hospital on Route 2A.
    Without them Chris would not have made it this far.  This cat must have 
    used at least 7 of his 9 lives already -- I feel like I have used 8 of mine.

	I'm glad that Christopher will recover. Please let us know how he's doing. I think it would be a good idea to keep him inside for quite a long time once he comes home, as the cumulative effect of all this on his health and emotional wellbeing would seem to be very hard.

	This is a controversial topic, not only for the indoor/outdoor reasons, but because this is a cat that we all are aware was injured outdoors just a few weeks ago. In addition to the base noters request that we not dump on van drivers, I am going to also ask that we remember to value differences in our replies to this topic. Jo

	I don't think that anyone is going to start ragging on van drivers (especially since, as the base noter stated, this one stopped and helped). I DO want to send my very best to Christopher Robin, who is having one HECK of an unlucky streak! K.C. (who has a van)

	Hi, All the best to Christopher Robin from Tim, George, Bubble and Tuppence. Tim had a similar experience some weeks ago (note 252), he will soon be released from his cage to join his brothers and sisters exploring our new home and the new garden through the cat flap. Best regards David

	My sister took Christopher's buddy Charlie to the vet this morning for teeth cleaning and the vet gave Margaret an update on Chris progress. Chris must be getting better; when the vet got up to check on him at 1:00 this morning, he was standing on his hind legs (in the classic stance of a prisoner behind the barred cell door) his front claws firmly attached to the wire door and shaking it back and forth, seeing if he could open it. Chris may be able to come home today. We are all looking forward to that, but he will be less than pleased when he realizes that he will have to spend several weeks indoors and some in the cage.
