| | Yvonne,

Us Feliners who show purchase those combs at -- what else?? -- CAT
SHOWS!! :^). Haddeleigh House has a great selection. Also, Martha
(HH owner and proprietor, has a store in Sudbury, though the exact
location escapes me. Somewhere along Route 20 I believe.

Regarding: Furby. We call our Himalayan, Herbie, "Ferbie" cause he has
so much fur. I didn't realize someone actually used it as a name for
    their cat!!

| | Roberta,

Thanks for the info! I kind of figured that would be the answer I got,
but if anyone can recall the location of the store Martha has in
Sudbury, I could do that at lunchtime one day! If the name of the store
is Haddeleigh House I could probavly find it, but a pointer to general
area would be helpful. I'm one of those people that can get lost
without ever taking a turn! ;-)

Regarding the name Furby: When I first brought her home, she purred
all the time, and I was calling her a PURRpot and a PURRbucket, which
my husband misunderstood as FURbucket, and started calling her FUR and
B as in bucket, so it came out like Furby, and the silly name stuck!
She is really furry though ;-)

| | I had to replace one of my combs this weekend, since it has been
missing for weeks. I got one of the teflon coated greyhound combs for
about $10.00 and it is great. Really glides through the coat, feels
good in my hand (not too heavy or too light), and was the most
reasonably priced that Pro Vet had.

| | It is in on rt 20 in Sudbury, not far from Raytheon (but on the other
side of the street). This used to be a "Breeder's Pride" store. This is
a REAL BIG plaza, with a Friendly's resturant. There are major traffic
    lights in the area.

| | Deb,

Thanks for the pointer! I'm not sure I would have gone that far down
if I didn't know. And, since I happened to find a 50.00 error in my
checkbook, IN MY FAVOR!!!, I may just pop down there at lunchtime!

| 85.6 | I got the comb! | MR4DEC::COLAIANNI |  | Wed Dec 18 1991 06:12 | 25 |
| | Hi All,

Just wantd to let you know I went after work down to Sudbury to
Haddeleigh House, and purchased a teflon coated comb that has two
different teeth sizes on either side.

But, did I get out of there with just that? Please! What a great
store! I almost bought a really tall scratching post in hopes od
keeping them away from the chairs, but I could feel the staples, so I
decided against it. The rose color would have clashed with my red rub
    (yuck!) anyway.

I did get some loose catnip, and catnip plugs to try growing my own,
and a kitty dancer with the furry end. The girls LOVE this thing! I
have to put it in a cabinet when not being used. I'm afraid they may
get hurt with the wire id they are unsupervised.

When I have more bucks, I will be going back there! Thanks again for
    the pointer!

    Y

BTW, Furby HATES the comb! She kept biting it and trying to get away.
The fact that she had just located the big bag of catnip and had tried
to rip it apart could have been a factor though. ;-)

When I went to the cat show at Asabet, I picked up one of those sparkle
toys from the Haddeleigh House's display stand. (Among a zillion other
kitty toys & stuff). Callie ABSOLUTLU GOES APE over this toy!! She runs
and jumps & rolls over, and swats it w/ her paws!! She talks through
our whole playtime!! She knows exactly which cabenit it's located in,
so she comes-a-runnin' when she hears the cabenit open!! Sometimes,
I'll be going in there for something else & she'll want to play, so I'm
stuck!! "Oh, alright...but only for 5 mins!" Sometimes, she'll try
to get into the cabenit to get it herself, and she sits there looking
at me, "Mrrrow! MMMppprrr! Brrrooooww! PPPrrrRRR! MEOW! NOW!" It's
    just so cute!

I don't let her have it when I'm not around either. The stick is made
of plastic, but it's got 6 inch pieces of tinsel coming out of it, as
well a three or four different colored feathers. I don't want her to
jab herself w/ it, or tear the "fun stuff" off of it.

I can't wait til Christmas!! Their stocking is fuller than mine! ;*)

| 85.8 | I saw those things!! | MR4DEC::COLAIANNI |  | Wed Dec 18 1991 08:23 | 25 |
| | Bonnie,

I saw a bunch of those things in a tube at the store, and looked at
them. They look great. There were no prices on them though, and the
lady was really busy at the time I was there, so I didn't bother to ask
about them. Do you remember what you payed for yours? I will probably
get a couple of them next time I go to that store. Most things were
priced a little less than most pet stores in the area, and they have SO
MUCH stuff in that little store!! It's worth going a little out of the
way to go there I think.

Actually, I have a problem with stores that don't put prices on things,
but this one looked hard to put a tag on, and I think it was the only
thing I saw in the store that didn't have a price. Big Steve's Petland
is notorious for not pricing things, and I tell them that whenever I
happen to go there. I get most of my aquarium supplies there because they
are close. (I finally got my catalog to That Fish Place which is MUCH
cheaper though) I also tell them they would probably get a lot more
business from me if I knew what things cost. They are pretty high as a
rule, thus the reason I want to know the costs!)

Bonnie, want to take a trip there after the holidays are over? They
are open till 9:00 most nights.

| | Hey, maybe we should take a FELINEr road trip to HH :-)
But seriously, I usually go by there once a week, and stop when I need more
catfood (cuts down on the impulse buying :-)) so if anyone from Marlboro wants
something specific (I don't do decisions real well) and can't get there easily,
I can pick it up and you can get it from me at my office. Bonnie, it was
really great that you could pick up the litter for me that time; if I can make
someone else's life easier, that would be great too!
I think maybe we'll play some sparkler tonight...haven't done that in a long
time! :-)

| 85.12 | If you have lots of FELINEs, HH has breeders cards | EMASS::SKALTSIS | Deb | Wed Dec 18 1991 17:45 | 12 |
| | HH'S prices are very good, but if you are a breeder, you can ask for a
breeder card for the store and get an additional 15% off. I'm not a
breeder, but I got talking to Martha at the Marlboro show, and she told
me to tell the woman at her store to give mew a breeder's card (I think
that I mentioned that I had 11 cats).

Anyhow, since I'm doing some work at Raytheon, I popped in to get and
try out the card. I'm getting the big bags of Science Diet for $22, which
is about $1 cheaper than Erikson's. So, those of you that breed or have
large number of cats might want to ask about a breeders card.

| | Really, Sandy?!?! A DOLLAR? WOWIE!

Jill & Y--->A group visit to the HH sounds like a FINE thing! Let's
plan on jan or feb sometime!!

BTW, Jill---->I can get you more litter when you need it. Lately, I
haven't been going to the store as often as I usually do, but I will be
going more often once the holiday confusion is over!

Thanks for the breeder card info, Deb!! I'm sure that will be useful to
the many people who are owned by multi cats! Hmmmmm, do you think that
Dave will see this as a good enough reason to adopt MORE CATS!! ;*)
I think not, but it was worth a shot! %^D

| 85.14 | Small groups please! ;-) | MR4DEC::COLAIANNI |  | Mon Dec 23 1991 06:30 | 25 |
| | Hi!

A group visit to HH, sounds like a good idea, but it would have to be
a small group! That store isn't that big, and it's FULL of stuff! It's
amazing how much stuff Martha fits into the store! If we brought a big
group there, we would have to go in shifts! ;-)

I bought a kitty dancer there, and Furby goes nuts over it! She'll run
after it as long as I will play. When she catches it, she growls like
she caught prey, and is warning me. It's SO cute! Then I let it go, and
she drags it under the Christmas tree. I was concerned about her
hurting herself if I left it out, but all she does is drag it under the
tree and hide it! Whenever I want to play, I know where to look for it.
I'm going to have to get a few more soon. It's funny to watch Furby
playing with th furry end, and Feendoonie playing with the little stick
at the other end. There are no sharp points on it, and the wire is too
stiff for them to wrap it around anything, so I'm not too worried. If
they really played with it alone, I would worry more, but all they do
is kill it and hide it! I wonder where she'll put it when the tree
    comes down!

I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open for shows in the area though. No
harm in saving a little mopey, right? ;-)

I know this is an old note but I didn't think it necessary
to start a new one for my question.

Does anyone know where I can get a shaver/clipper thing to
groom cats? Chloe has gotten all matted up again (I was on
vacation so couldn't brush her) and I really can't afford
the $50 or so it would cost me this time to get her dematted.
So I thought I'd try and do it myself but I can't do it with
    	just scissors. Help??!

    	Thanks
