| | Hi, I'm in LKG, and would be willing to try and find them
for you. If they are available through Noteworthy, I may
even force myself to place an order, which would be a few
$ less. Let me know what they are, and if you want me to
get them. I am at DTN 226-7216, if your friend wants to
give me a call, when here.

| | Thanks Wayne,

The reason for buying in the States is the price.

Can you possibly tell me the price of ....

The Beatles - White Album (2 CD)
Neil Diamond - You Don't Bring Me Flowers
Neil Diamond - Glad You're Here With Me Tonight
Elvis Presley - The Memphis Record
Elvis Presley - Aloha From Hawaii
Ringo Starr - Blast From The Past

                                 .... and I can both
decide which two I want (afford), and arrange the
    cash.

    Regards,

| 1493.3 | "Aloha" is different | FOOZLE::GOSSELIN | Ken...AET1-2/8...240-6570 | Fri Jan 27 1989 09:21 | 24 |
| | Ian,

Just wanted to let you know that Presley's "Aloha From Hawaii"
is not available on CD. What has been released is "Alternate Aloha"
    - this is the concert recorded the night before the actual broadcast.
It's basically the same concert, except for one or two songs (can't
remember which) and the addition of some studio songs at the end
of the disc (includes some banter between Elvis and staff that's
    interesting).

"Alternate Aloha" has existed for years as a fan club bootleg,
and has been considered the definitive "Aloha" performance. Dunno
why RCA chose to release it rather than "Aloha From Hawaii" - maybe
to pump up sales, or they may have had a problem transcribing it
to disc - if memory serves, it was the first "Quad" recording released.

I believe I spent ~$10 for "AA" on sale - my guess is Noteworthy
would ask $12 or less for it............

                                      Ken

| | I bought a copy of Aloha from Hawaii at Rock n Mania in Framingham.
It is a Japanese import. Cost around $28. Sound is good. The lyrics
are in Japanese.

Thanks for the info - I was unaware of a Japanese import of "Aloha
From Hawaii." $28 is a bit steep - but I'd love to hear it in
comparison to "Alternate Aloha." Is it on 1 or 2 discs? Has the
    playing time been shortened?

On the subject of Mr. Presley ...

I think that "Aloha from Hawaii" is released on CD in the UK,
    I'll find out.
If anyone copied the CD catalogue from HLPG10 (Netherlands)
there are two "Aloha" CDs listed. One titled "Aloha from
Hawaii" and the other "Alternate Aloha".

For future reference - got a query on the Presley Sun
    recordings.
I've seen a 17 track compilation "The Sun Collection"
(includes 2 versions of "I love you because), and another
compilation "The Sun Sessions CD" with the 17 tracks
on the "Collection" pluse outtakes and more alternate
versions. The question is - does the "Sun Sessions CD"
fully cover the Sun recordings sessions?

    Thanks,

    Ian K.

| | The "Complete Sun Sessions" CD should be a superset of the 17-cut
configuration. In fact, the first 17 cuts of the CD should match
the contents of the other collection (but not the order). The
essential cuts are the first 10, which are the 5 singles released
by Sun (IMO). And, yes, the CD is as complete as you're ever likely
to find; I doubt even the bootlegs are that complete. (And you
know someone will correct me if I'm wrong...) - Jay
