... is another old group whose GREATEST HITS I've been eagerly
awaiting on CD, and it's finally been released. My cassette tape
of this has gotten a lot of play in my car, and I'm glad to have
the CD. There is some tape hiss evident on the CD, but I like
the music so much that I don't really care. The Association has
always had a terrific set of harmonies, and I'm glad to have
them on a more or less permanent medium. I only wish that their
individual albums could be released on CD, because there's still
a lot of other nice tunes of their's I'd like to have.
Like any "Best of" or "Greatest Hits" collection, there are some
quibbles, but all of the genuine hits are there, such as "Along
Comes Mary", "Cherish", "Windy", "Never My Love", and "Everything
That Touches You". The recording levels seem to be somewhat low
on this, so it needs to be played a bit louder than usual.

Jerry, Is this a rehash of the "Association's Greatest Hits" Lp,
or does it include other stuff (like maybe "Goodbye Columbus??").
I got a double album of theirs through Publishers central bureau,
but it turned out to be a different packaging of their first two
WB's albums, with none of their Valiant Label stuff. I find that
their middle career stuff like the one I mentioned above, is the
hardest to find.
I agree that even if it's just a re-ish, that I'd still like to
have it. They were/are one of the most under-rated harmonizing groups
ever. Saw them live in a shopping center last year - they still
have it !!

It's the same package as their LP, with the songs in a different
sequence. I rather preferred the LP (actually, I have the cassette)
sequence, but perhaps that's just because I'm used to it. It
certainly would have been nice to add some more tracks, but
i'm still happy with it.
I agree that their harmonies are exceptional and that they're
sadly overlooked. I only had a couple of their LP's (one Valiant
and a couple of Warner's), but always liked their material.
They still exist as a group? Amazing. I saw them for the first
and so far only time about 12 years ago, and was surprised to
see that they were together back then. Of course, the member-
ship had changed slightly, but they always managed to find new
people that fit right in.
