| | The error correction on mine seems a little questionable sometimes,
but that is my only complaint. I take mine with me whenever I have
to fly somewhere (Boston, Atlanta, Dayton, Dallas) and it takes
most of the landings without a skip. The only place I've ever
had any trouble is the east to west landing at St. Louis(*). St.
Louis security also wants to see it work.
In it's case it is a very rugged player.

(*) The east-west landing at St. Louis is interesting because
that end of runway has a couple of degrees slope to it (going
down). Even in the best weather, you're likely to "bounce".

| | I just got mine from S.M. and the few times I have used it I
like it. I do not have the battery pack, as this was the last
one they had w/o it. The price was good at only 116.00 and
they wanted about 199.00 for the complete unit.. If you can

get it for only 150.00 go for it..

    Regards,
    Bert

I've had mine for about 2 weeks. I got it from S.M. too. I have
no complaints yet. It was $70 less than the comparable Sony, but
it didn't come with head-phones. I figured I could get a pair with
the extra $70, and I ended up with a pair of Sony MDR-33s. Together,
    they sound very nice.

    I highly recommend it.

Should the Sony D-7 come with headphones? I have one and it didn't.

| | I finally acquired the "most expensive habit". I broke down and
purchased the SLXP-7. I am absolutely thrilled with it. Unfortunately
prices of discs scares me. I will probably ask your advice on the
software selection once I make a list of the stuff which I want.

A question for people owing the SLXP-7. How much time it should
take to "auto-mount" (load) the disc? Is a second or one and half
    considered normal?
    Thanks,

| | I exchanged the player because it had minor annoying clicks/skips
on one disk which I had borrowed from a friend. I took the new player
home, and it was just horrible. It would skip wildly. It took less
than 3 minutes to play the 6 minute track!

So finally I went back yesterday, exchanged the player again, and
listened to the new one for half an hour before taking it home. Thank
God Service Merchandise is not too busy on a Monday evening.

Why do all portables have such a poor quality control over the
manufacturing of those units? I have heard too many failures of
    D-n's too.
