The album is due out for November release in USA called :

    The POLICE, the Singles ......

And it includes the newly re-cut version / video of Don't Stand
So Close To Me - more melodic , slower and richer in texture ..

The video is playing on MTV here and on local AOR stations .....

P.S. See any obscure Peter Gabriel CD's over there ??

Also, ever see Stewart Copeland's soundtrack for Rumble Fish?

| | Hell. Call me old fashioned, but I don't think the new version
of "Don't Stand..." is anywhere near as good as the original. Somehow
this "Greatest Hits" album just feels a little sleazy to me. I
*love* the Police, but somehow I just can't feel right about shelling
out the cash for this one. Pretty soon we'll start seeing the ads
on TV for K-Tel's "Best of the Police". Yech! Get the boys back
    together, and we'll talk.

I'll be happy with all my other Police CD's, thank you.

| | Found it in Brussels last night. It's really good. I held off buying the
separate discs knowing that there will be a 'best of'.
It starts of with Roxanne, Can't stand losing you, ... goes on thruogh
so lonely, message in a bottle, walking on the moon,
every little thing she does is magic,
(my two favourites next ) invisible sun and every breath you take.
It finishes with two obscure songs I haven't heard before.
All in all there are 16 tracks (from memory).
Well recommended. It is, unfortunatly, only AAD. But the quality isn't too bad.
Cost? 745 belgian francs = about 13 pounds = about 20 dollars(?)
I also agree that the don't stand-86 is no where near as good as the original.
