Can this note really be 2 years old ?? Heck, this guy probably
no longer works at DEC. Anyway, if anyone is still looking for Ray
Charles CD's, there're 2 discs out on the Dunhill label which have
been 'digitally remastered' by The Genius himself and Steve Hoffman
(late of MCA). They're basically compendiums of his best from the
ABC-PARAMOUNT days, with a couple of surprises thrown in (the
instrumental version of "One Mint Julep" from another label).

If you're looking for "What'd I Say" & "Swanee River Rock" then
look to the Atlantic Rhythm & Blues '47-'74 series. If you're looking
for "Hit The Road, Jack," "Georgia On My Mind," "I Can't Stop Loving
You" and all his later stuff that's been out of circulation since
'68 or so, this set is it. Both discs are necessary to fill in the
gaps, since they're not chronological (I'm sure they were planned that
way), and there's some stuff from Ray's early 70's career that I think
is unfit for someone of his caliber to sing (America the Beautiful,
etc.). All in all the 2 disc set (each sold as a seperate item) is a
tribute to Ray and his multi-faceted career.
