| 204.2 | Def Lep..great in concert! | EUCLID::OWEN |  | Fri Sep 16 1988 13:04 | 18 |
| | I saw DEF LEPPARD this summer at Greatwoods (Mansfield, MA U.S.A.).
It was a completely incredible show. I have more respect for Rick
Allen (the one armed bandit) than just about anyone in the Music
business. In fact, he wanted one of the tour shirts to have only
one sleve, the other being sewn up! But the promoter didn't think
that would be such a great idea.

As far as their music goes, almost all of it I love. There are
a couple of songs that I skip through on Hystaria, but all in all
it's a great album. I think Pyromania was the first rock album
that I ever bought, and I just kept going from there.

I have tickets to see them again at the Centrum in Worcester, MA.
Unlike the greatwoods show (an open theater) the centrum show will
be a center stage concert. It should be incredible!!!! Hope to
see all of you Lep-heads there!!

Unfortunately DEC dont pay me enough to take a trip over the pond,
so I will have to settle for a review from someone who goes to it.
By the way when exactly is it ?

I have however managed to see them before, I saw them at the
Newcastle City Hall (Newcastle England), Its a fairly small venue
so you can actually see the whole show. It was excellent and can't
wait until they are back over here. The set was most of the Hysteria
stuff with a good proportion of the older work.

Also does anyone know why most people I talk to think that they
are an American band, when they wear Union flag T shirts etc and
hail from the English town of Sheffield ?

If anyone that is going to the concert in America would be prepared
to get me an enamel badge and T shirt (Im paying obviously) could
they mail me (JANUS::BHARRISON) or phone me ( DTN 830 3747 ), to
make some arrangements. Thanks in advance.

    See Ya - Brynn,

When you say that most people that you talk to think that Def Leppard
are an American band do you mean people you talk to in England or
people you correspond with through the notes file? I for one happen
to be an American and have always known they are an English band
(you can tell by their bloody accents, heh heh). I am a huge Lep
fan and have been for 6 years. Most people I talk to over here
realize that they are English unless of course they have had their
head stuck in the sand all their life. BTW, I've seen the Leps
5 times--so far...... Each show was probably better than the last.
So anyway, anybody that is REALLY a Def Leppard fan knows they are
from England, and anybody that doesn't isn't really fan, so forget
about 'em. Now, did YOU know that they are not ALL from Sheffield?
Phil Collen is not. Look it up. Where exactly are you at in England?
    Just curious.

Yep I did know that not all were from Sheffield, Phil joined the
band from one called Girl after they saked their original guitarist
Pete (his surname escapes me for now).
The people I was refering to, were English. It was just the impression
I got from asking around about the band.

I am resident in Reading, 40 miles west of London. But I originate
from Stockton - on Tees, 250 miles north of London. (I travel past
Sheffield on the way back home).

The surname you were looking for is Willis. I am surprised to hear
that a lot of English people don't realize Def Leppard are from
England. You would think so wouldn't you? Must be interesting
to drive past their home town and maybe wonder if they could be
taking a break from recording to visit family or something. Someday
I would like to visit England and possibly Holland to see Wisseloord
Studios. Say, had you heard that all day this Wednesday MTV is
supposed to be premiering Def Leppard's newest video "Rocket"?
I am assuming you get eMpTyV there (do you?) Like to hear your
comments if you happen to see it.

Hi, Rock Brigader When I got home last night, I rushed to my CD's
of DEF LEP and looked for the name, it was bugging me.

I noticed that you were in the heavy metal notes conference, I've
replied to you there, OK ?

No we don't get MTV here (well you do if you have cable TV, but
only a very small proportion of people have it here), so I won't
get to see it. Tell me how it goes, OK ?

    See ya - Brynn

| | Going for a record on `biggest-gap-between-consecutive-notes' here, but
what did he die of? I have little interest in this band, but my missus
has a couple of their albums, and I was reading the sleeve notes
on `Adrenalize' the other night. It mentioned the rest of the band
watching one of their own wasting away before their eyes. What was all
    that about?

| | I thought I'd revive this topic for a bit.

Def Leppards last Album release was called retroactive. It contained
mainly tracks that were available as 'additional tracks' on the singles
from Adrenalize. A couple of these were on the album twice as different
mixes. OK methinks, they may get away with it. Then they go and release
tracks off the 'new' album as singles. So far Two steps behind and
a cover of Sweets Action have been released, but I already have them on
the CD singles make love like a man and have you ever needed someone so
bad. Is this one hell of a rip off or what ?

| | Well its over two years now since this note was last added to.

I was wondering if there were any Lep fans out there that know anything
about the upcoming concerts in England.

I have seen a few confirmed dates, ie. for Wembley, Sheffield e.t.c

I have also seen some unconfirmed dates. ie Bournemouth 30 Nov 96

    Has anyone else heard anything.

Thinking of going to Wembley, but Bournemouth is closer to home and a
damned site easier to get to!!

    Grateful for any info

    Karl
