| | I am yours, Heavenly Father. Help me to temper my tongue and soften my
    heart. Show me humility when I am prideful and self righteous, and give
    me strength when I am frightened and unsure.
    In the name of my savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

	Gracious Father, we humbly beseech thee for thy holy Catholic
	Church; that thou wouldest be pleased to fill it with all
	truth, in all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where
	it is in error, direct it; where in anything it is amiss,
	reform it. Where it is right, establish it; where it is in
	want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for
	the sake of him who died and rose again, and ever liveth to
	make intercession for us, Jesus Christ, thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

| | Lord, bless to me this Lent.
	Lord, let me fast most truly and profitably,
	  by feeding in prayer on this Spirit:
	    reveal me to myself
	      in the light of thy holiness.
	Suffer me never to think
	  that I have knowledge enough to need no teaching,
	    wisdom enough to need no correction,
	    talents enough to need no grace,
	    goodness enough to need no progress,
	    humility enough to need no repentance,
	    devotion enough to need no quickening,
	    strength sufficient without thy Spirit;
	  lest, standing still, I fall back for evermore.
	Shew me the desires that should be disciplined,
	    and sloths to be slain.
	Shew me the omissions to be made up
	    and the habits to be mended.
	And behind these, weaken, humble
	  and annihilate in me
	  self-will, self-righteousness, self-satisfaction,
	  self-sufficiency, self-assertion, vainglory.
	May my whole effort be to return to thee;
	  O make it serious and sincere
	  persevering and fruitful in result,
	    by the help of thy Holy Spirit
	      and to thy glory
		my Lord and my God.

| | Praise to you, O God of the Ages.
	Your Presence is the light that pierces
		the darkness;
	Your Presence surrounds the faithful in
		the midst of isolation.
You were with Gandhi, Bonhoeffer, and King.
You are with the scorned and the saints
	whose names the world may
		never know.
Praise to you, O God of history.
