| I've been watching "The Stand," also.
King seems to know how to weave our childhood fears and ancient
religious legends together with just enough reality to make the
basic storyline plausible.

| Good guys in white and the evil one known as The Dark Man meeting in
an ultimate battle is an ancient and often replicated theme. It sure
makes a story easy to follow though.
In real life, nobody I know is completely good. Nobody I know is
completely evil.

at all though that each discipline can gain a great deal of insight
from the other.

| I noticed last night's episode had Stephen King, the author, playing
a small role himself. For those who don't know him by sight, King
was the one with the white teeshirt and dark leather vest who gave
a ride in his van to a woman with the more prominent role of Nadine
Cross. King's facial features bring to mind a rabbit with a gland
problem.
Another aspect of note: The segments that supposedly took place in
Colorado were actually filmed in Utah. Colorado would have been the
preferred place to film, but the producers decided to take "A Stand"
against Colorado's Amendment 2 in 1993 when the mini-series was
actually in production.

Interesting about the Boulder/Utah part. I though for sure that the
houses in Boulder( victorian type) were the real thing.

| .0 Well, I'm curious about your thoughts about "The Stand," Dave,
especially since you initiated the string.
The tape I made of the last installment turned out to be of very poor
quality, unwatchable - like the signal had been scrambled. So I've
effectively missed the first hour. I did arrive home in time to watch
most of the last hour.
Don't know how Stu and the others ended up in the gully just before
Stu broke his leg in a fall.

The 4 were walking along a highway, and apparently a flood had wiped out
a section of the road, creating a gully. The only way to the other side
of the road was through the gully.

After going into the gully, Stu fell when scaling the up side. He fell
and broke his leg. The others left him, since the message from the
old lady indicated that "one would fall". Stu stayed with a dog, and
was later rescued and all.....
