| | Mark Stevens & Family (wife, 2 kids 15 & 6)
    5th trip to WDW.
Staying at the Carribean Beach (3rd time there)

Arriving April 21st through the 30th. Can't wait! I keep getting these
little tidbits of info from Disney since I made my reservations and it
just makes it all the more difficult to wait.

Anyway, we'll be going down this time and brining my parents. They've
been to Disneyland 2 or 3 times but never to WDW.

I'll wait until the end of April to set my vacation.com., but I can
hear the Hoop-De-Do theme song and taste the Dole Whip already!

When: Mid July, different dates for different folks, but all going to
the HDD together on Sat. July 15. We are driving from PA and going
to be there for 2 weeks.

Where: Fort WIlderness. Most of the group owns campers and will be
converging on Monday the 10th and leaving on Saturday the 22nd,
    	some others are flying.

We can't wait for this to happen although some of my friends think I'm
crazy for coordinating this big trip. We all play musical instruments
and are planning on taking over the enterntainment at the marshmellow
marsh excursion on one of the nights.

This is my families 3rd trip, but my 9th trip. Most of the group has
never been there before and is looking to us for advice! ;^)

Will be driving down, leaving on Wednesday, August 25 and returning on
Saturday, September 2, 1995. Want to get this trip in before kids
    start back to school.

This NOTESFILE conference is wonderful. I have been reading through
lots of the entries and have picked up some very valuable information.
    Thanks, everyone.

| | Well I've got good news and bad news...

The good news is that my wife and I are expecting our 3rd child in
    April.

The bad news is this is when we planned our trip to WDW for '95 so
we've postponed it for a year.

The good news is I'll be a 1996 visitor, and have my reservations in
    tact at the CBR!

Oh, I really don't know if we can wait that long though. I've got the
    "itis" bad...

Suggestion. YOu may want to plan your vacation between 10/1/96 and
10/1/97 so you'll enjoy the 25th Anniversary Celebration.

I'm within a year of making my '97 reservation.

| | We had originally planned to go again in '97 also for the 25th.

We are pretty much sticking to that, looking into a July or August '97
return to WDW. That will probably be the last for awhile with the
entire family, because my daughter will have graduated high school that
    Spring.

We couldn't miss the Silver anniversary...

My brother Mike won two tickets to Florida in contest -- the Burger King
Store he manages sold the most Halloween Fries coupons of all the stores
in Western New York State. So I get to show him around. I booked 6 days/
5 nights at Wilderness Lodge, Resort Magic or whatever it's called now,
(Classic Plan?) for $1171 Courtyard View. We'll add a night or two of
hotel only to the begin or end to maximize the package days.
We're going Jan. 15 through 22.

	   Poly Luau on 4/2 6:45
    Who: The wife and myself
    Where: Polynesian - Garden view
    How: Fly Delta
Last trip: 10/83 WDW for me. I also saw DL on a Tuesday night DECUS
special in 1990 (?). The wife has never been.
Why: I wanted to go on our honeymoon in 6/91 but the wife wanted
to do Hawaii. I talked her into doing WDW this year instead
	   of skiing out West.
The best amusement park my wife has seen is Camobie Lake in NH. It
took a bit of convincing to get her pyched for a WDW trip. She just
did not have anything to compare it to. After reading Birnbaum's
and hearing about my research here, in rec.arts.disney and on
CompuServe, she is now chomping at the bit.
The most helpful thing I've found here so far is the note
from TOLKIN::GENTRY (412.3) that said the they had their Hoop-Dee-Doo
show booked more than a year out. I was thinking that I had to wait
until 60 days out before I could book the dinner shows!
The trip reports are good too. I almost feel like I've already been
there. I'll be an old hand by the time we get on the plane in Boston.

| 412.22 |  | NODEX::HOLMES |  | Mon Feb 06 1995 11:55 | 56 |
| | I'm planning a two-part vacation in May. Not all the details are worked out,
but here's what I know so far...
Part I :
Who : me, my sister Lorri, brother-in-law Luke, nephews Brian
          (who'll be 8) and Neil (who'll be almost 5).
When : May 5th - May 13th for them. I'll be with them through May 9th,
then moving on to part II.
Where : Caribbean Beach Resort on the Classic Plan. We've requested
	  connecting rooms in Martinique.
How : US Air non-stop flights from Providence -- $206 round trip.
What : I'm hoping to hit all three major parks as well as Blizzard
Beach with the kids before I move on. We're going to the Hoop
Dee Doo on the 8th and they're seeing Mickey's Tropical Luau
	  on the 11th.
Why : I've been waiting to see Disney World with these guys since
Brian was very small, but my sister wanted to wait until Neil
was 5 or so. It's been a long wait!
Last Trips : Lorri and Luke have been before (pre-MGM days) but have
never done a real Disney vacation. The kids have never
been. I was last there in August '93.
Part II :
Who : me, my friend and ex-DECcie Clarissa Venditelli, maybe others...
  When : May 9th - May 15th.
Where : Either Port Orleans or the Beach Club. We have reservations at
both and haven't quite decided yet. Some of it depends on who
ends up coming along. It could be the Classic Plan at PO, a la
carte at the Beach Club with the newly discovered special rate,
or if we're feeling really extravagent, the Deluxe Plan at the
	  Beach Club. Decisions, decisions...
How : US Air for me. Not sure how Clarissa's getting there yet!
What : Another big unknown. We're way behind in our planning! Definitely
want to hit the TZToT, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, and Alien
Encounter if it's reopened by then. Clarissa hasn't been on Splash
Mountain either. Maybe Broadway at the Top since I love showtunes...
Why : We need a vacation! Where better to go?
Last Trips : March '92 for Clarissa. August '93 for me.
Tracy (only 87 days to go!)

| 412.28 | Feenan Trip | NOVA::FEENAN | Jay Feenan - Rdb Engineering | Fri Mar 24 1995 18:09 | 37 |
| | Well Rick Anderson in .15 started a big case of Disney-itis in me back
in January asking me Disney questions. Updating my final
arrangements:
    Who: Jay(dad), Tricia(mom), Molly(13), Jimmy(10)
			and Kathryn(8) Feenan
    When: April 20-28, 1995
Where: Days Inn Suite Buena Vista (April 20-22)
                Fort Wildeness Home (April 23-28)
How: Delta, through the 3 day Dream Vacation Package.

Last Trip: Went for a day last month
Last extended stay (4 days) - the '94 Disney Marathon
Last family trip - Nov. 92

The Delta dream vacation includes the car for the trip [extended just
this part of the package out for the total time...was a good price],
tickets to Universal Studios for 2 days, Wet 'n wild for a day and a
    dinner show.
What was interesting this time around was that by making the admission
and hotel arrangements for the other 5 days on my own saved about
$1300.00 on a family of 5. This is comparison to taking any of the
'commercial packages' that any of the travel agents could get me. The
bummer on this trip is that the AP special starts on the day I leave,
so I could have saved another $500.00 if the dates lined up correctly.

There are a few different families from my group that will be on
property that week...calls for a good cookout/party at the Feenan's
followed by a trip to the campfire and nightly FW outdoor movie...

Can't wait 27 more days...I was reminded this morning by my youngest
[but I already knew the number :-)]

I shoulda bought an annual pass... I went to WDW in January with my brother
for his vacation, and bought a Walk Around The World stone for my Wife to
give us an excuse to come back... and we decided this time to go at a
moderately crowded time so we could see the parks at night and the fireworks
and Spectromagic and Sorcery in the Sky.
Who:	Bill & Diane Abrams
When:	Fri 5/26 to Sat 6/3
Where:	First 2 nights unknown (DL, CBR, and PO all sold out)
	Second 2 nights: Dixie Landings
Last 4 nights: Beach Club (Can you believe it was available???????)
Why:	Work's gonna be AWEFUL after July 1 as we make a major transition
Have to see our Walk around the World Stone
	Want to see nighttime activities
	Do we need a reason?
This time we reserved room only, and we have to only send a deposit for the
first night of each hotel. We'll buy 5 day passes before we go or when we
get there. We compared this to the Classic Plan and we believe we're better
off this way. Plus, we don't plan to go into the main parks on Memorial
Day so a length of stay pass seems a waste.
Start crossing my fingers for Alien Encounter. I'm not optimistic; there's
no date to re-open officially.
If anyone needs me to find out anything or look for something feel free to
write me at FPTWS1::ABRAMS and I'll do my best. That includes scoping out
hotels outside WDW -- my wife is a travel agent so we do that anyway!

| 412.32 | Nina and Friends in October | HUMOR::EPPES | I'm not making this up, you know | Fri May 12 1995 19:07 | 47 |
| |
Who: Nina Eppes (Yours Truly :-) ), and friends Debbie and Jeff
	     (not a couple; we're three members of an a cappella quartet;
unfortunately, the 4th member can't make it. Neither can my
S.O., alas; he doesn't have as much vacation time to spare :-) )
When: October 4-11 for me and Debbie; Oct. 5-10 for Jeff (he's a
teacher and can only sneak a couple extra days off :-). That's
why we chose to go over Columbus Day weekend).
Where: All Star Music (Broadway, we hope), although after reading
accounts of recent stays, I have some reservations (ha ha).
Both my friends want to minimize expenses, but stay on
property as well. So we'll see how it goes.
How:	United for me and Debbie; Northwest for Jeff. We're renting
a car, also (Jeff would rather rely on the WDW transportation
system, but I like to be independent :-) ).
Last trip: For me, I think one day at MGM in December 1993 (or was
it '92?), while my S.O. and I were visiting his folks over
		   Christmas.
For Jeff, I think a couple days also in December '93,
while spending Christmas with HIS folks.
		   For Debbie, NEVER! See below.
I and my friend Jeff are going on this trip to help our friend Debbie celebrate
her 40th birthday (which actually was in March). She's always dreamed of going
to WDW and really wanted to make it there for her 40th birthday. Unfortunately,
she doesn't have a lot of money. So Jeff and I and some other friends decided
to see whether we could pool enough funds together to send her. I donated some
frequent flyer mileage I had on United (some of which was about to expire) and
got Debbie a free airline ticket. We also scraped some money together to go
towards the hotel room, although she'll have to kick in some (but she doesn't
mind! :-) ).
And of course we couldn't let her go by herself!!! :-)
I've been to WDW several times since my first visit in '82 (I think), when
my sister worked as a mime in the France part of EPCOT. However, I've never
stayed there for more than a day or two at a time, so I'm psyched about being
able to stay for several days!
Though now I'm kind of bummed about the Golf Classic being held then.
Ah, well... Hakuna matata! :-)

he'll be about a month shy so he will still be free!), Janet
(John's mom), and Doris (Gail's mom).

When: June 23rd to July 2nd

Where: We are renting a house. This is the first time that we will not
be staying on Disney property. It worked out that for about the
same price as one room at CBR, PO, or DL (which of course we
wouldn't all fit into!) we could rent the house. We found that
last time (last August) when we stayed at Fort Wilderness it was
a bit cramped and always a wait for the bathroom. We are hoping
that with three bedrooms and two bathrooms it will be more
comfortable. Plus we will have our own pool and a washer and
dryer right at the house. I didn't really like doing the laundry
at FW because you ended up having to wait at the "comfort
station" (because by the time you would get back to the trailer
it would be time to head back to put the laundry from the washer
to the dryer), and they closed the comfort station at 11pm (so
it was a rush to get it done before they closed).

Why: My niece is getting married on June 24th, and since it is only
about an hour and a half from Orlando, we decided to make it
into a Disney vacation. Also, when we went last August we bought
Annual Passports since we were there for two weeks. Now we
don't have to pay to get in for this trip!

Who: The Young family - Steve(me) Kathy(my wife) Adam(son 17) Beth(daughter 14)
Where: House rented from someone who used to be in the conference
How: Flying Delta from Manchester, with stops in Boston on way down and
     Laguardia on way back.
Why: Why not?
Figure this will be our last chance as a family. Son will be a Senior next
year and we figure the summer and vacation time will be taken up with
college orientation and/or getting him to wherever he's going.
Other: This trip has had some of the poorest/laxest planning of any that we've
taken recently. We've had the house reserved for well over a year, but
haven't really thought too much about actual planning until just
recently. We only know that we will probably spend most of the first week
doing Universal (which we've never done), Sea World and Kennedy Space
Center (both of which my daughter doesn't remember, she was 3 the last
time we did them with her). The second week will be spent doing WDW.
We're also discussing a side trip to St. Augustine, my son remembers this
as an interesting place when we went through on our way driving home when
he was 7. My duahgter doesn't remember it and so is relying on her
brother's input. My wife and I are trying to remember what was so
interesting. WE'd rather take another day of resting around the pool.

When: 24th August - 7th September.
Where: Caribbean Beach Resort.
How: Glasgow, Scotland -> Orlando
Last trip: May '94 -( stayed in Kissimmee)
Why: We missed so much of the Disney experience last May - This was really
down to the lack of planning and not really knowing what we were going to.
We committed the ultimate sin - we hit the parks early.....didn't come out
at lunchtime.....tried to get round everything so, by approx 3/3.30pm, the
kids were shattered. Result being, we left the parks at 4.00pm and never
came back in the evening. Missed out on Illuminations, Sorcery in the sky,
Disney world at night etc etc etc. So, for this trip, I've been studying the
unofficial guide to WDW(for the last 4 months) and have planned the trip down
to the last detail. The good thing is, even after missing the above mentioned,
we still had the holiday of a lifetime. Thanks to ALL noters for the information
and advice in this notesfile.

| | Well, in 46 days my sister, Pam, my niece, Missy, and I will be leaving
for 7 days and six nights in my favorite vacation spot! This will be my
fifth trip to WDW and their first. My niece has been to WDL with me and
my other two nieces (Mary and Lauren) two years ago.
We will be staying at the Grand Floridian for our six nights,
breakfasts (character ones every day if we want) are included as well
as entry to all the parks (we know that River Country will be closed
when we are there, we were informed of that in May when I made the
    reservations.)
I think the October/November time frame is wonderful in FL, and have
convinced my sister to take her daughter out of school for the week!
    (She's 12, she'll be fine!)

An added unexpected bonus for me is that I just found out that I will
be attending a conference at the Dolphin hotel Sept 30-Oct 4! and to
think, I *HAVE* to attend and *THEY* are paying my way! Too bad I
couldn't find some way to spend the week in the middle on someone
    else's dime!

I'll post reports when we get back!

Steve,
A good travelling game is "Crack the Case", in which you try to solve
a mystery by asking questions (a sophisticated 20 questions kind of thing.)
Another is "Mindtrap" which you could play similarly or just allow free
for all attempts to explain impossible sounding scenarios.
Let's hope the kids haven't seen the Beavis & Butthead version of a
school field trip...
By the way, I was one of those kids...In my junior year we raised money
selling fruit for a 23hour trip each way by bus. We marched in a Magic
Kingdom parade, and I saw the Main Street Electrical Parade (I don't
remember if we also marched in that parade). I remember making careful
decisions about how to use those precious "E" Tickets! We also marched in
Seaworld, went to the beach in Vero Beach, and visited an orange grove.

| 412.55 | Thanks for some tips | NPSS::SILVA |  | Fri Dec 08 1995 12:23 | 23 |
| | Thanks for the suggestions. A mystery might be a good idea. I found out
the bus does have several tv's and vcr, I had suggested to my daughter
we get an adapter for the Sega and bring it. She shot that down she said
a few of the kids could play one game from Boston to Orlando without getting
killed.
>>Let's hope the kids haven't seen the Beavis & Butthead version of a
>>school field trip...
I haven't seen it myself, maybe I should. One good thing is these kids are
unbelievably well behaved. It was amazing watching them this season compared
to some of the other bands. The language you would here from other groups
would curl your hair. I am not saying our kids are angels, but at least they
keep it to them selfs. An interesting observation is to see the bus come up
on a toll both or the competition field. You can hear a pin drop, every kid
is sitting up striaght and looking forward and not talking.
Monday night we get our full schedule. We found out yesterday, when we get to
Orlando on Wednesday, we go right to one of the parks until about 5:00 then
we go to a field for 6:00 to practice for a few hours.
