    I just spoke with Claude "The Mod" Berube. He still hasn't found
    a job but has come close. Claude tells me that he is currently 
    on a three month trial membership with Prodigy so if you're a
    Prodigy member and would like to say hi to Claude the Mod look
    for him in the Goffstown, NH area of Prodigy.
    
    I'm sure he'd appreciate it....especially if you know of a job 
    that may be a match for him.

    For those of you who have been participants in this conference since
    1989-1990 you may recall a noter by the name of Jim Hill.
    
    Jim worked as a contractor and had visions of becoming a number of things
    ...one being a television writer. Jim was involved in Disneyana and in the
    National Fantasy Fan Club. He had many contacts inside the Disney
    Company, Disneyland, and Walt Disney World. He had access to tons of stuff
    which the moderators had access to and was able to pass along to the
    noters.
    
    Jim was very helpful to the moderators in the early 90's (Len, Claude,
    Ruth, Jim, Linda, Kathy, and myself) and often gave us insight into 
    future plans for all Disney projects. He even gave some of us original
    scripts from movies like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty & the
    Beast. Most of all he was a great source for future attractions for the
    theme parks. I still have some materials he sent me on attractions YET
    TO BE BUILT. Some of these were Journey Into Space, the Russian
    Pavillion in Epcot, Mount Fuji, and Westcot out in California.
    
    In short Jim was a wealth of information. He left about 4 years ago.
    Claude tried to find him and eventually did find out that he had moved
    to Florida....but that's where the trail ended...until now.
    
    I may have found Jim.
    
    I recently read an article about EPCOT's Living Seas and how guests can
    now go Deep See Diving in their huge tank. Someone by the name of Jim
    Hill, who is also affiliated with the NFFC/Disneyana Chapter, wrote the 
    article. 
    
    I have the e-mail address of the diver who is featured in the story and
    have sent him mail asking for Jim's address. If this is the Jim Hill
    who worked as a contractor for DEC back some 5 years ago then we may
    just be able to connect to yet another source to get more inside info
    on Disney happenings.
    
    I'll keep everyone posted on my progress.

    Yesterday I received a phone call from old friend Claude "The Mod"
    Berube. Although a WDW fanatic Claude goes down only once every five
    years.
    
    This year he went on the week of April 19th. He did not enjoy himself.
    He said that the crowds were too much for him and that he never waited
    less than 45 minutes for an attraction.
    
    One of the most amazing things he told me was that one afternoon he was
    in TMK and the line for Splash Mountain came out and backed up all the
    way to Pirates of the Carribbean and that the wait was about 2 hours.
    
    Did anyone go this week and also experience this type of problem? I'm
    beginning to think that any trip this Summer will be sort of a
    challenge instead of a vacation.

I was there that week.  Like I mentioned in my trip report, the MK was really
croweded that Thursday, 4/24, which was also an early entry day.  We didn't
stick around and left around lunch time.

We did splash mountain just before lunch that day and had about a 50 min.
wait.  I do remember seeing the line being really long once but I don't
believe it was a 2 hr. wait.

This just reinforces the "ya gotta go early" suggestions.  

I also think that in the summer, with the extended hours, it won't be as
bad.  Hit the parks early in the morning and stay late at night.

    please.  I was also told the time I went, school vacation week was 
    busy/ but I wasn't bothered.

We were also down the week of 4/18-4/25.  I couldn't get flights Sat to Sat but
the Fri to Fri deal turned out to be an advantage.

Saturday we hit MGM and literally walked on every attraction.  My younger son
and I did Star Tours three times in a row while the "older" boys did Tower of
Terror twice (and this was all before 9 AM!).  By noon we had "done" MGM and
headed for Epcot, where we also never waited (although we saved Honey I Shrunk
the Audience for our first stop on another day).

We consistently arrived at least 1/2 hour before the published opening time at
every park. The only park that seems to religiously adhere to the opening time
is the MK.  As we stayed off-site, we *never* went to a park the day that it 
was an early opening for park guests.

The only day that was crowded was Sunday at the MK...even though it was not the
early opening day.  It was wall to wall people.  So many that it was hard to
walk! We didn't stick around.

The only waits that we had all week were for Country Bear Jamboree, on
Wednesday when the torrential rains began and for Space Mountain, on the same
day, when it broke down.  (We hopped on the people mover and got a good view of
the actual ride in the raw light.  I feel bad for the poor people who were
stuck at the top!  Although they must have been mighty scared, they still waved
to us from their perch.)

    I think both Ed and Lori are right. If anyone is going down this Summer
    for an extended stay and uses APs then use your time wisely.
    
    I myself do not plan on being in the parks between 12 and 6 unless it's
    to see a special event ("Remember the Magic" parade) or to eat in a
    special restaurant.
    
    I expect that it will be crowded.

    We were down there from Tuesday, 4/22 through Friday, 5/2.
    
    The first week was very crowded.  The day I went to Blizzard
    Beach was a ridiculous waste.  I think I was averaging a major
    slide per hour and a half.
    
    The next week was a little better.  We actually hit one day at
    MGM where we had almost no wait for TZTOT.
    
    Overall, it's back to going in Oct/Nov for us!
