| | Bummer - I was just at Disneyworld last week and could have picked up some
    new maps for you! I did send them to Mike Scopa, don't know if he
    would be willing to let you borrow them - I sent him maps of Epcot,
    MGM, and Disneyworld.

| 346.3 | how it is working out... | PHDVAX::JMCGLINCHEY |  | Thu Jun 17 1993 20:37 | 32 |
| | Thanks. I should be able to have a rough version of this up and
    running in about 2 or 3 weeks, tops.

    I have converted some of it for windows, and it works great. I have
    even created .BMP files for windows so that my windows wallpaper is
    now the MK map!  ;^)

    What I'm doing (for those techies out there) is scanning the picture
    portions of the map using an applescanner, saving a TIFF image and
    transferring that to my PC (a DECpc 433w). Using PaintShop for
    windows, I convert the TIFF image to a windows .BMP file. Then I use
    that for the wallpaper.

    On both systems I've created a simple FOX(base one MAC, PRO for
    Windows on PC) application that reads a .DBF file that has a record for
    each picture and a field for each button that describes the button and
    another field that has the name of the picture to display when you
    push the button. Then the appl. looks up that picture, displays it and
    it's buttons and loops.

    Now all I have to do is scan all the pictures and paste them into the
    fox (base and pro) db's.

    After I'm done, I'll create standalone executables for the apps and age
    them up for all of you.

    This is fun! The things that I dream about late at night, eh?

    Thanks again for anyone sending me maps.

    John

| 346.4 | need a home.... | PHDVAX::JMCGLINCHEY |  | Fri Jun 25 1993 12:23 | 11 |
| | I have a "beta" verson of the electrinic maps up and running. I would
    like to upload it this weekend, BUT.......

    I need a volunteer home. Can any one out there give a good home to
    some public software? Let me know and I'll upload the MAC version
    over the weekend.

    PC version is coming soon (Windows of course).

| 346.5 | Status of Windows Application? | SIMSA2::MACMILLAN |  | Sat Aug 28 1993 13:27 | 7 |
| | Have you completed the Windows application yet? It sounds like it will be great!
I would be interested in getting a copy when you are done. The whole family could
check out the park and plan the vacation right at home.
I would also be interested in the MK.BMP if you have it available!

| | I was held up on this "project" because the scanner I had borrowed had
    to be returned. There's a possibility of getting it back this weekend
    so that I can finish.

    I do have a few ".BMP" files for windows. I'll try to upload them this
    weekend.

| 346.7 | windows .bmp and apple newton pda | MIDI::PHDVAX::JMCGLINCHEY |  | Thu Sep 30 1993 11:14 | 23 |
| | I've uploaded a few windows ".BMP" files and put them online. They
    are in PKZIP format.

    The file for you to copy is:

    	PHDVAX::SYS$PUBLIC:WDW_BMP.ZIP

    The files are crude scanned images in B/W. I'm hoping santa brings
    me a color scanner. I'm going to wait for that before I realease the
    electronic maps software that I mentioned earlier since I'm not happy
    with the B/W images that I've scanned so far.

    But.....

    I have a question for all of you.

    Have you seen the Apple Newton PDA and if you could buy a WDW guidebook
    on a PCMCIA card would it prompt you to buy a Newton?

    PC-based format, either BMP, GIF, TIF, JPEG or whatever?
