your baggage for you. I did this between FW and GF.

We've done this before - once from Disney Inn -> Contemporary and once
from Contemporary -> Polynesian. The reason: to try out the different
    resorts.

There's the decision you're going to have to make. To us, move day
*almost* felt like a lost day - important if you are interested in seeing
a lot of parks. For us, it was no big deal - we go lots, have seen
everything multiple times and could spare the day, in fact relished a
lazy, relaxing day of mosying on over to the new place.

WDW will take care of moving your luggage, and you can fit in going to
the parks around it. But with a checkout time of 11:00 and a check-in
time of 3:00, you have to those 4 hours into account. We usually hang
around a lounge or a pool or do a quick visit to a park, etc. Plus, I
just feel like knowing where my stuff is, so I like doing the move
    myself.

There's certainly something to be said for "experimenting" with the
resorts. It's how I've come to learn the ones I like enough to go back
to now! :^) But overall, I think staying put makes for a better trip,
especially if you don't go to WDW often and need to see a lot.

| | RE; Sean

You have raised some good points. We have been to WDW many times, so
there are some things we can afford to miss seeing again.

We have always stayed at FW and really want to try other resorts and
i did have in my mind that we might be "wasting" 2 half days.

Your reply made me think that going to CBR first and then transferring
to FW would be the smart thing to do, since we could find many things
to do in FW for those 4 hours. In fact I never gave the difference
in check in and check out time a thought. Glad you mentioned it.

| | I agree with Sean. We've had the option of having Guest Services
transfer our stuff but we thought the same....we'd lose some time
because of making sure everything was packed, checking out at 11 and in
at 3 and all that jazz.

I like to do my own stuff also.

It was by accident that we stayed in two resorts (CR and CBR). LAst
year I thought about splitting my visit between PO and the CBR but the
thought of the time involved in doing that just didn't seem to make it
    worthwhile.

| | When I did it I called ahead to see if I could do an early check-in,
which they said was OK as long as we didn't go into the room until
after 3. Since we were going out all day this was fine with us. Then
We checked out of FW early (b4 8AM) and went to GF late (after 8pm).
All our stuff that we left in FW was neatly stacked in our room at GF.

| | We went from Fort Wilderness to CRO with no problem, we did however
carry our own luggage, stayed at FW until 11:00 actually alittle later
as we had express checkout and did not have to really account to anyone
on our way out. We arrived at CRO at 12:00 and our room was ready,
    right in no waiting.

As we "camp" at FW (tent and screen house) because my husband and boys
love that way of life (I do also, somewhat) I get a little luxury the
    second week.

ENJOY, TERRY (who will be at FW on June 30)

| 339.7 | Moving in resort. | WECROW::HILL | In casual pursuit of serenity. | Mon Apr 26 1993 15:42 | 15 |
| | We moved from CBR to the Poly last year.
We did an early check in and got straight into our room as one was ready. We
transfered ourselves. We had a rental car. The Bell Hops were great. I should
have entered a trip report as I can't really remember what we did that day.
Anyway it was not one of the main parks as we wanted to enjy the Poly. One thing
to consider in a move is that it's best to move up. If we had moved from the
Poly to the CBR it would be like drinking instant coffe after fresh ground.
There is pleanty to do at the CBR. Playgrounds, bikes, pool.
The reason we moved was because we wanted to try the Poly but at $270ish per
night we could not afford to stay there for long.
And yes I will enter a trip report for last week at Port Orleans. Soon.

| | Rule of thumb:

If you are splitting your stay always go from off the property to on
the property....never the other way around.

Also, when moving around while on the property always move up...never
    down in price.

| 339.9 | deposits for switching hotels/rates? | WMOIS::PHILPOT |  | Sun Jan 28 1996 17:19 | 27 |
| |
I have a question about staying in more than one resort, and the way
Disney handles deposits for those reservations.

We are going to WDW in November. I called today to make hotel
reservations, in the hopes of getting the MKC discount at the Vacation
Club. Unfortunately, due to certain room rates not being available for
the entire length of our trip, what we ended up with was:
2 nights Vacation Club, at the AAA rate
6 nights Vacation Club, at the MKC rate
3 nights at the Contemporary, at the MKC rate

All this resulted in 3 separate reservation numbers, so Disney now
wants me to send THREE night's deposit (one for each reservation)
rather than the customary one night's. I protested, but got nowhere,
and was told that there wasn't even anyone else I could complain to.

Has this happened to anyone else, or does anyone know if there is
someone to talk to so that I only have to send one night's deposit?
I can ALMOST see having to send in one night's deposit for the Vac.
Club, and one night for the Contemporary, but that 2nd night's deposit
at the VC, just because the RATE changed, seems a little screwy to me.
Does anyone know a way out of this? I really hate to part with $600
now, when our vacation isn't for 10 more months...

    Thanks,
    -Lynne

If you have three reservations and you want to keep them all for the
time being, you have to send a deposit in for each one. Without a
deposit, the computer will cancel a reservation, allowing that room to
    go to someone else.

Lynne, can I ask a question? How does the AAA rate compare with the MKC
    rate?

I found out something yesterday (actually a couple of things) when I
called yesterday to make reservations for next August:

      1. The Vacation Club Resort is now called the Old Key West Resort.

      2. According to the cast member I talked to, the new computer system
does not allow for a waiting list (bummer). To get additional
days, we will have to keep calling ourselves.

      3. The BoardWalk Inn is opening on July 1st but they are not yet
granting any discounts (double bummer - that's where we wanted to
         stay).

      4. MKC members sure plan early. Maybe I should try for any available
         AAA rooms.

| 339.12 | 3 Reservations = 3 Deposits | WREATH::SCOPA |  | Mon Jan 29 1996 13:46 | 10 |
| | Lynne,

Everyone is right. WDW sees three distinct reservations and treat them
this way. I remember Jim Pappas went through this 5 years ago. Jim knew
he was going down in July or August but wasn't sure so he made 3
different reservations, each one was for two weeks. When he knew which
2 weeks he'd be going he cancelled the other two and transferred the
deposits to the reservation he kept.

| | I also ran into the issue of two different resorts/deposits. I have a
MKC package for August 21-25 at Dixie Landing. We will be flying down on
the 20th, so we need a room for one night. For what I was looking at
paying off-site, I decided to go to the All-Stars for the one night. It
is a seperate reservation and requires a seperate deposit. I agree with one
of the previous notes, in that I will pay for it ahead of time. One more
expense out of the way. We are staying a couple of extra days after the
25th, but are going off-site. The off-site hotel had a rate of $69 dollars
on the Aug 20, but only $39 dollars on August 25 and 26. What a difference
    a few days make.

Also, I booked my flight on Saturday. We are paying $175 roundtrip out of
Hartford, direct flight on Delta. I could have gotten the same rate on
USAIR. The travel agent quoted me the same or only $5 more out of Boston.
The only stipulation was that I had to pay for them within 24 hours.

I am glad I made my reservation for Dixie Landing about 3 months ago.
There were no MKC discounts at All-Star's for the one night and at
Dixie Landing when I was thinking of switching my dates.

Thanks everyone for the info. I guess I will just have to bite the
bullet and send the $$ in now.

re .11 - Jay, the AAA rate in the past had been 20% vs. the MKC max
discount of 30%. However, as I look at my rates, the 1 br Vacation Club
is $205 (incl tax) with MKC club, and $235 with tax for AAA. I tlooks
like more than a 10% difference, but it sure beats the $265 before tax
    regular rate.
