| | I did...
During the summer of '90, I was down in Orlando for a few
weeks on vacation with a business trip stuck in the middle. I
needed to get a haircut and decided to try the Main St. Barber
Shop. If I remember correctly, the price was $12 for a basic
haircut. However, I got butchered. The barber did a lousy
job, and left my hair very uneven. My wife laughed every time
she saw it and I think I ended up getting it re-cut somewhere.
I was thinking about complaining, but the old guy was real
friendly, and I was afraid that he might loose his job. I
just couldn't bring myself to get the guy into trouble. Maybe
he was just having a bad day.

    	Me too !

In my case, I went the full route : Shave * and * a haircut.
( Though, if I remember correctly, it was considerably more than
two bits ). Mind you, this was almost ten years ago, when " Sweeney
Todd : The Demon Barber of Fleet Street " was a huge hit on Broad-
way. So -- while I had no trouble during the haircut portion -- I
will admit I felt a wee bit queasy as the barber moved the straight
    razor across my face.
But -- unlike Jim -- I recall getting a pretty decent haircut
as well a fairly close shave ( Loved the hot towel afterwards ). My
barber was also a pretty friendly and talkative fellow ... All in all,
I remember it as a very enjoyable experience ... If you're willing to
overlook my " Sweeney Todd " induced anxiety.

| | When we were there at the end of September a haircut was $12.50 at the
Harmony Barber Shop. I was tempted, but remembered Jim's experience,
    and gave it a pass.

| | I was there for the 20th anniversary and got a beard trim and a
haircut. The barber(hair stylist?) that was there was fairly new so the
bad experiences others have had in the past may be history. It's been a
while so I forget his name.... 40ish..his wife works at WDW...that's
why he got a job there... moved from Colorado... good attitude...very
    personalbe guy.
    I think I got a shampoo,haircut and beard trim for $18,$2 tip = $20...
same as back home...would do it again.. although if you don't like
people watching you don't do it.
People stopped and stared (to maybe see if you/he were real ?). One
woman even took movies !! I don't think she had ever seen anyone get a
beard trim before... but MOVIES ! Who will watch them....
Anyway, I was satisfied and would do it again.

| 291.5 | Child's haircut??? | WNRWHO::WOODS |  | Thu Mar 14 1996 11:21 | 8 |
| | I am going to WDW in 5 days - my son (22 mos old) is in need of
his first real haircut (Doug and I have chopped at the back but the
front is now getting ragged). We are thinking of getting his haircut
at the barbershop -- would this be a suitable place for a child's
    haircut??

    Thanks,
    Karen

| | I wouldn't, but it's no reflection of the barber shop! For some kids,
first haircut is a traumatic experience. I would hate to think that my
child might associate Disney with something traumatic! I have memories
from when I was two, so I wouldn't risk it. It would be traumatic for
me to have a child traumatized by Disney! ;-) --S

| | On our first trip to WDW back in 1972, I got a haircut and
a shave at the barbershop. We went off-season so there
weren't too many people around watching. It turned out
pretty good.
The reason I metion this is that it seems that most of
the barbers seem to be "retired" from other parts of the
country and I would guess that they have a lot of experience
in cutting little kids hair.
