    I think I'll start by saying if you want to rent watersprites (the
    little speedboats that zip around the lagoon) go rent them at the Grand
    Floridian.  They are newer and **much faster** than those at the
    Contemporary, Fort Wilderness, or anywhere else.

    What kind of sports activities are available at the Caribbean Beach
    Resort?  Are there pedal boats or something like that?
    
    I have golf at the Disney Inn and it was great!
    
    

    We have season tickets to WDW and are wondering if we can reserve
    tee time at the Disney Inn even if we're staying off the property?

     Well, we just got back from the CBR.  There is a central lake on which
    you can rent "Toobies" (which are sort of slow water-sprites), pedal
    boats and small sailboats.
    
     Unlike the Seven Seas Lagoon, there is nowhere to go other than round
    in a circle!
    
     As an aside, I did discover that WDW doesn't let you rent a
    watersprite at Ft Wilderness (for example) and motor over to the Grand
    Floridian for a cup of coffee before returning!  I was hoping to make
    like a real sailor and actually GO SOMEWHERE on the damn boat.

    There are 2 type pedal boats at CBR, the regular and the bicycle type.
    
    They also have toobies, rubber tubes with a small motor on them.
    
    There are also bike rentals at the CBR.

    	As an avid bicyclist, I'd like to discourage anyone from thinking
    they can get their cycling fix at WDW. Only single speed cruisers are
    available (at Ft. Wilderness), and the places you can take them are very
    restricted. If you bring your own bike, don't plan on using it to get
    around at WDW, use WDW's transportation plan. Many roads that you use
    on the shuttles, etc. do not allow bicycle access.
    	To get in serious cycling, get off site and ride south or west from
    WDW. Avoid rush hours because the back roads don't have shoulders (and
    the locals move, and traffic volume jumps at those times), just
    a sharp dropoff into grass or swamp. The terrain is flat with not many
    challenging hills (I like that part). -  Chris

    Eh, I think its basically a crap shoot.  At GF, my wife and I rented 
    two sprites and got a fast one and slow one.  Same at River Country.
    No matter where we rent 'em, it seems that there are some that cruise 
    and some that don't.

    I believe that the speed of the sprites is (unfortunately) directly
    proportional to the amount weight in the sprite.  Since both my son and
    daughter are too small to go alone, they have to take one of us
    grownups along.  Then they get all upset when the other boats go flying
    by us.

    No, I'm quite sure that the new white boats from the Grand Floridian
    were much faster.  There was not a single sprite on the water that
    could catch any of the white ones.

    When I rented a sprite from the poly, I asked if the newer boats were
    faster.  I was told that on average, the white boats (GF) were faster
    than the yellow (poly), red (contemporary) or blue (FW).

    If you stay on site, try the fishing excursions. They pick you up
    at the dock of any of the three hotels on the lagoons and take you
    out for two hours. All equipment is included and they even bring
    refreshments. The lagoons are loaded with bass and the drivers know
    the hot spots. 
    
    A great time if you like to fish.

    Has anyone gone Water Skiing at WDW?  I almost did, but it was quite
    expensive ($65/hour or something like that), and I like to zip back and
    forth while skiing and I was a bit concerned I'd get nailed by a water
    sprite.
    
    Next time I'll certainly do it!

        If you rent a water sprite, and if you have any problems with
        the boat, then they may not charge you for the rental (at
        least they did not charge me).

        I went out with my 7 year old daughter one afternoon and our
        boat would not idle very well when in gear.  We stalled it a
        few times getting out of the dock, but once the engine was
        running at full speed, everything was fine.  At least until we
        tried to bring it back in...

        When approaching the dock, I slowed the boat down and sure
        enough, it stalled.  I would start it, circle around but
        every time I tried to slow down, it would stall out again. 
        Finally when the coast was clear, I re-started the engine, set
        the controls to "ramming speed" and brought the boat in.  That
        was the best part of the ride.  The person working the dock
        instructed me to tell the cashier that I had problems with the
        boat which resulted in her marking "No Charge" on the bill.
    

    Can anyone tell me the cost of renting a water sprite?  Is it for an
    hour or 1/2 hour?
    
    Also, do you know the cost of horsebackriding at FW?

    Currently (and for at least the past 2 years) the price of renting a
    water sprite is $11 per half hour.  After the first half hour, billing
    is at 15 minute intervals ($5.50 per quarter hour).
