    I've read that River Country is seasonal - anyone know exactly
    what seasonal is? When it opens, when it closes?
  

    
    I heard a rumor that River Country will be closing when Typhoon
    Laggon opens up.  I also heard that Disney is planning on building
    log cabins where River Country is now located.  
    
    Like I said there are rumor's that I heard during my last trip (10/88)
    to WDW.  Has anybodey else heard this ???

In the past, River Country has been closed for the month of January.  I suspect
that it will be phased out once Typhoon Lagoon opens.

    Is admission to River Country included in the MK/Epcot/MGM passports
    or is there a separate admission charge?   If so does anybody

    Both River Country and  Typhoon  Lagoon  will be seperate admision, and
    are not included in the  World  passports.  (Discovery Island, Pleasure
    Island will also be a seperate  charge).  For the latest prices you can
    always call the (407)824-2600 MKC number, The  vacation  guide  I  have
    doesn't  list  the prices, however if you wish  to  know  a  particular
    vacation package...

Have the crowds at River Country decreased in size since the opening of 
Typhoon Lagoon? Does anyone know of any future plans for River Coubtry?

We've enjoyed River Country in the past (ie last April) but it was very
crowded.

    We're planning on taking our two four-year-olds to River Country next
    month.  What activities can little ones who can't swim participate in
    there?  Are there any water slides etc. that they can ride?  Do they
    allow "personal flotation devices"?

    Len, there is a 'kiddy' area with beach and some low level (3-4ft)
    slides. The lifeguard on duty would not let my 5yr old go down the
    slides wearing a flotation device, but since the water is only about
    18ins deep at that point, it was no real problem. There is also
    a regular type swimming pool with steps and a shallow end where
    kiddies can splash about. The other end of this pool is roped off
    and gets pretty deep because there are some short slides which finish
    10 - 15 feet above the water level. Good fun but the water gets
    hard from that height!
    
    You can rent the flotation vests in RC and TL for about $1. My 5yr
    old daughter tried River Country and Typhoon Lagoon, and voted for
    a return visit to TL over RC, because there was a kiddy version
    of the tube ride, she could ride the white water mush from the Wave
    Pool after it had spread out to the sides and she liked just lying
    in a big tube and going round the park on the Lazy River Ride i.e.
    more different 'grown-up' things to do.

    hi there,
    Having just come back from WDW and having gone to both Typhoon and RC,
    I can say RC is absolutely less less crowded than Typhoon and I would
    expect small children to enjoy RC better because of it. You really take
    some chances being pushed around in the wave pool at Typhoon by all the
    people. Funny thing, while listening to the lifeguards at RC they all
    would say "Isnt this better than Typhoon Lagoon??!" just to make us
    laugh -- sounds like the two parks have a rivalry going! -N
    

River country has a nice pond with shallow water that is great for 
little kids. It also has 4  small slides for little kids. My kids
really enjoyed it there.

    We went to River country earlier this week and had a good time.  RC is
    small but we had a nice time.

    For any of you who are considering buying an annual pass for WDW. 
    There is an upgrade that you can buy which is an annual pass for RC and
    Discovery Island.  The upgrade is $15 for adults and $11 for children. 
    It can only be used in combination with a regular WDW annual pass.

    I bought this upgrade since it was about the same price as a RC/DI
    one day combination ticket.  If we go again in June, it will definitely
    pay off.

    Hi guys,
    
    does anyone know if RC can be accessed from the FW marina? the reason I
    ask is that we are staying at the Contemporary and have the 5-day super
    passes. we would like to go to RC but I feel it would be a hassle to
    have to go all the way around to the front of FW.

        There is no problem getting from the FW marina to River
        Country.  They are adjacent to each other.  Have fun.

    Wasn't sure if this is the  right  place to put this, but what the hey,
    if not I'm sure one of the mods will move it!  ;^)
    
    Anyway on previous trips I remember having  to  show  my  resort  ID at
    River  Country (as well as the Polynesean/Comtemporary/Disney Inn)  and
    would recieve a towel for use while swiming.
    
    Do they still provide towels to resort guest at  the  hotel  pools  and
    Water Parks?
    
    Just trying to decide what to pack.

    	    Last year we got towels at all the other resort pools we 
    went to with no problems using our CBR or FW ID's. 
    	    The 'But..' was from the Y&BC, where the girl behind the 
    counter told me that they were thinking of closing their 
    facilities to non-Y&BC guests when it got crowded!

    I don't think they provide towels to resort guests at the water
    parks.  We rented towels at Typhoon Lagoon (May 1990?) for $1
    each (or something like that).  They were a waste of money since
    we left them on the lounge chairs all day.
    
    In any event, don't pack towels for the trip.  Housekeeping will
    give you plenty.  In the past, we've just left a note for the maid
    telling her we need extra towels for swimming and how long we will
    be staying.

    I read somewhere that the chairs in RC especially are not comfortable.
    Does anyone know if you can bring in your own beach chairs?  Since 
    we'll be driving, it shouldn't be a problem to pack them...
