| 2.9 | Packages from the Disney Travel Co. | FRIEZE::FRATTURELLI | I'd rather be at Disney World | Thu Mar 30 1989 08:01 | 25 |
| | Since I did not see a topic in this conference for the Disney Travel
Co., I thought I'd mentioned something here.

I just picked up a brochure from the Disney Travel Co. at a local
travel agency, and it appears that for the first time (as far as
I know) Disney is giving travel agencies the liberty of booking
reservations at their resort hotels (Floridian, Poly, Cont., etc...),
as well as those in Disney Village, the Villas, and the surrounding areas.
The packages they are offering are just as good, if not better, than
those offered from the MKC. I just briefly scanned the brochure,
but the pkgs. included round trip transfers from the airport OR
a rent-a-car, unlimited admission to the parks for the entire time of
your stay, unlimited use of the transportation system, a few meals, OR
tickets to Discovery Island and/or River Country. I'll have to go back
and check to see if the MGM-Studio admission is included.

But overall, it seems these packages are just as good as those
    from the Magic Kingdom Club.

Therefore, you now know that there is yet another option, and you
can now have the travel agent do the work for you, if you are so inclined.

    	Happy hunting!

    John,

The Disney Travel Co. has been around for quite some time (I had a
brochure from '82), and I beleive is the general public division of the
MKC, and as far as the plans go they are priced about the same as the
MKC plans. Where it behoves you to belong to the MKC is when you don't
purchase a plan and pay as you go to get the discounts.

| | Travel agents could ALWAYS book accommodations on WDW property.
Many wouldn't because Disney never paid commissions. Perhaps that's
the change. Or maybe they are paying commission only on the packages,
since the airlines, rental car companies, etc. will kick in some
    bucks.

Most travel agents I know aren't shy about telling you what they
make money on and what they don't. They know you know they get
commissions, and don't see any reason to keep it a secret. They
just might not tell you how much they make. Usually it is 8-10%.

Within the next few weeks you should received a package from them which

You'll only receive the guide once you formaly book a particular

The MKC doesn't care, You can make reservation for several rooms being
ocupied by freinds/relatives as well as buy as many World Passports at
the TTC using your MKC discount.

The MKC discounts seem to be a buck or two better than the resort

BTW, there are also special discounts for senior citizens and Florida

| | MKC cards seem to come in batches, all expiring at the same time.
These get distributed by employee activities, and at some point the get
a new batch. I suppose it depends on how "fresh" the cards are that
your employee activities folks have. If yours is about to expire, you
can just request a new one.
As for other benefits, you should have gotten a "MKC 1989 Membership
Guide" when you picked up your card. A summary of benefits is in note
2.0, but new ones are added from time to time. Watch this conference,
or call the MKC Travel Center for more information.

A couple of questions... We just made reservations at the Poly
Pool-view room for October. This is at 20%, not 35% off. Anway,
normal price is $195/night, you are paying 65% ($126.75) and I
    expect to pay 80% ($156).

The lady at the MKC number said their computers aren't registering
the 1990 prices, but I would get it later on, with the 20% discount.
Then she told me I have to send in a deposit for 1 night at $214.50,
which was the price in the computer (??).

      1) Did you get this kind of information?
      2) Do you have to send in a 1-night's deposit that is more than
what you will really be paying for one night?

    Sean,

I believe that since they didn't have the '90 prices yet, which
probably means they didn't have the various seasons decided upon as
well (high vs value etc.) that in the mean time they are playing it
safe by quoting you the reqular non-discounted price for 1 night plus
the Fl hotel tax of 10%. Even when they announce next years prices the
difference will be reflected in what you owe, so I wouldn't worry about
it unless of course you don't like floating an interest free loan to
    Disney :^(.

Otherwise note that had you made the resevation for a period that the
pricing was know, then it would of been that price plus tax, ie, when I
made my reservation for this past summer for FW last April, it was
$27.04, which broke down to the $24.33 for campsite and tax of $2.71,
which was the quoted price plus tax.

When I first called for reservations in October, the new '90 prices were not
in the computer even though I had already received the '90 MKC guide. I called
back a couple of days later and the new prices were available. I sent them
a deposit for $127 plus 10% tax.
After coming back from WDW in NOV/DEC and staying at the Polynesian, I decided
to change my reservation to a garden view. I called, changed the reservation
and transfered the money over to the new reservation. The garden view is about
$117/night.

The reson you are getting 20% vs 35% is the time of year. The 35% discount
does not begin until after Thanskgiving and if I remember right, lasts into
February sometime, with the exception of the Christmas holiday week.
Enjoy your vacation.

| | My sister and her family are going to Orlando for the New Year,
and wanted to stay at either the Disney Villas or Pickett Suites.
The MKC card says "for use by you and your family", so she rang
the MKC reservations number to test whether she was included. They
were quite happy to give the MKC discounts to her, and also told
her she could use it for Annual Passports and Disney Marketplace
discounts, even though the card 'owner' would not be in the party.

How far do these 'family links' go, second and third cousins,
    Great Grandparents etc.?

Incidentally, she rang the normal CRO number first, and was quoted
a price. When the operator realised that the booking was for 14
nights, she said "Oh! I can improve on the one night price", and
reduced it considerably. It was something like $275 reduced to
$220, which is actually better than the price with MKC discount.
Has anyone heard of, or negotiated, discounts for longer stays,

I called the CRO just now to check on this. They emphatically told me
that no such discount exists for any of the WDW resorts.

I didn't ask about the WDW village resorts because I didn't notice the

Thanks for the info! In talking to another Disney-holic here at
Westfield, he reminded me about shareholders card--which I haven't
received either! Does anybody know the procedure for getting your
card after buying stock?? I've had the stock for about six months
now and haven't got any other information. Although I did just get
the annual report (nice pictures!!), and the voting information.

Any help on getting my card et al., would be welcomed!

    Thanks again

| | Early on in this note there was mention of a Gold Magic Kingdom Club
Card. There was no follow up note.

Last week while going through my Disney Channel Magazine (with Billy
Joel on the cover) I came across an ad for this card. Again the price
    was $45.

    Here are some questions...

         1. Has anyone sent or received on of these cards?

         2. Are their greater benefits to a Gold MKC Card than a regular
(free) one that we would get at a PAC?

         3. Are the trinkets (magazine subscription, key tag, etc.) worth
            it?

The ad indicates that a Gold card indicates you are a Disney channel
subscriber and may therefore be given more benefits that a regular
    MKC member.

I'm thinking about getting a gold card but would like to hear from
someone who has received and made use of this gold card before I fork
    over the $45.

| | I bought one, mainly because I wanted the video. I received a plastic
tote bag similar to the ones that you get for free from a travel agent,
one luggage tag and one key ring, all with the Magic Kingdon Club logo,
a video (people at work dreaming about their Disney vacation, then they
go) with pretty good scenes of both WDW and DL, and a subscription to
the magazine. Other than the video and the trinkets, the benefits are
no different than the ones you get with the cardboard card from
    personnel.

It is a pretty gold card, and the membership lasts two years. I won't
renew unless they send me another video. I am not a Disney Channel
subscriber -- I sent in from the Disney Magazine.

I thought the video was worth it, mainly because I don't have a video
camera. These are the only video pictures I have of WDW.

Yes, the card is plastic. It's gold, has a picture of Mickey in a
tux tipping his top hat to you, with your name, a member number,
member since and good thru dates. I use my card at the Disney store
a lot, so the plastic stands up to the wear and tear better. I also
probably have taken more in discounts than the whole thing cost me.

You're right, I forgot about the 5 Disney dollars I received.

| | Hmmm....$5 in Disney Dollars, plus a video that's probably worth around
$9.95, and a two year subscription of the Disney News (forgot what the
    cost is), plus some trinkets.

May not be worth it but I like the idea of the plastic. I laminated my
    last card.

Also, be kinda nice to flash it at a store or even down in Orlando and
uninformed people wonder what it is and how you got it.

    I might jump at it.

| | I just received an offer in the mail trying to get me to buy a "Magic
    Kingdom Club Gold Card."

For the $45 fee ($65 foreign, US funds only), you get:

o Gold Memberhip Card (two-year expiration)
    	o Club tote bag
o Five bucks in Disney dollars
    	o Club luggage tag
o Disney Vacation Video (VHS only, my Betamax loses again)
    	o Club Newsletter
o Two-year subscription to DISNEY NEWS magazine
o (all the usual stuff the cardboard cards get you)

Those interested may send name, address, and phone number along with
check or money order (Payable to Magic Kingdom Club Gold Card) to:

                         Magic Kingdom Gold Card
                              P.O. Box 3850
                          Anaheim, CA 92803-3850

or may charge by phone at (714) 490-3200. (There was a spot on the
form for charging it to a credit card, but I assume you need the form
    to do that).

Now the big question is how many of us are going to blow the $40
(subtracting the Disney Dollars) for a tote bag, key chain, luggage
tag, and video? Has anyone done this yet? Or am I going to be the
    sucker, excuse me, PIONEER?

So far I have only received the Winter 1990 issue. It is about 6
pages long on quality paper with colored pictures. In this issue is
the calendar for the month of December 1990 for all three parks in
WDW and for Disneyland. It shows open hours and when the Christmas

    Disney dollars $5.00

    Disney video $9.95

    Rick,

Well if you live near Goffstown NH, I may be bribed in parting with my
copy, but beware this tape is my DISNEY fix, and is a copy I made from
a fellow DECie while I was working in Salem.

Warning if you are at all squeamish don't read on!!! ;^)

However this tape is rather dear to me, and at the moment somewhat
unreplaceable without a little work invovled (that where the bribe
comes in ;^)). On this tape I have,

A copy of the 35th Disneyland Anniversary Special, the Disney
Channel version (thanks to Len Goldberg)
A copy of 'A Dream Called WDW' (thanks to my local Video Library)
A copy of the Epcot video (thanks to Ruth Campbell)
And last a copy of the '90 MKC Gold Club Video (thanks to Jim Kerns)

The '90 MKC Gold Club video start's off as a take off of the now famous
sports star What are you going to do now commercials of the past few
years. Instead it features normal eaveryday people at their places of
employment who are being asked the question,

'Now that you just finished a hard day at work what are you going
    to do now?'

It then procedes to show the highlights of WDW, Disneyland and the
Cruise packages with enphasis on the latest additions to the parks,
since if you are a MKC Gold Club member, you obviously have been to my
favorite place before and are interested in what's new in the last year
or so since the last time you been. If I remember correctly it last
for about 20 minutes and is very good quality, and is in comparision to
the video given out by GM when you visit the 'World of Motion' pavilion
at Epcot and pick up the pamphlet in the transport area and then visit
your local GM dealer for those of you who have that on as well (thanks
Ruth for giving me that card as well).

Gee I think it's time to pop in this tape...

| | Yesterday I received in the mail a packet of info from the Gold MKC.
Inmcluded was the 1992 MKC Membership Guide. I thought I'd share some
info with you here. Some of this info could possible belong in note 20
which discusses vacation packages. I'll put some general info in here
and try to hold off details for note 20.

    * * *

The guide is definitely thicker than ever before and it really hypes
    the 20th Anniversary celebration.

Here are some things I've noticed:

      - National Car Rental discounts have gone from 23% to 30%.
      - Member can now join for free ($29.95 value) membership in
Entertainment Publications Travel America at HalfPrice. I will
probably join. It looks real good.
      - The guide emphasizes Epcot's "Surprise in the Skies", and TMK's
        "Surprise Celebration" and "SpectroMagic".
      - It also mentions that there are all kinds of "surprises" awaiting
guests including "Roger Rabbit...popping up everywhere with all
kinds of fabulous prizes for unsuspecting guests."
      - Also hyped is MuppetVision 4D and Theater of the Stars'
        "Hollywood's Pretty Woman" (Len...could Jessica be....nawwww.
      - There are some pictures of Dixie Landings' rooms from the inside
but only artist renditions of the outside.
      - Check out page 13 as it is the absolute best map to-date of the
entire WDW complex. It does not show Bonnet Creek Parkway but it
does show all the latest resorts.

Now scoot over to note 20 and check out some differences in the
    packages.

> If so could you please list the "package" prices here?
The latest guides are a joke when it comes to listing prices on the
plans since all they give you is a from $xxxx to $xxx for a given hotel
based on double occupancy. The guide doesn't list prices like it used
to a few years back, based on single/double/triple and junior/child
info as well as additional nights. The latest guide is only useful for
listing the package plan that are available (which hotels), the plan
    specific etc.

The best way to get price info based on the number in your party, type
of accomodations, plan specific is to call CRO.

    Claude

PS However if someone feels like typing the various list in go ahead,
    it just that I won't.

The 1992 MKC Guides are in a rack located by personnel. This is the
personnel office at CX01 - just thru the double doors by the cafe.
I haven't seen any cards tho. I checked with personnel last fall and was
told that they wouldn't be getting any locally. People have been cut so
they don't have the time to devote to that particular activity anymore.
Since I'm now a Disney stockholder, I have another source. But if I wasn't
I'd sure be pi**ed. Good luck with getting a card.

Uh folks if it's the cards you want and they are not available locally
to you, nothing is stoping you from following the policy for obtaining
one as posted in 2.31 (that's why it's in the title BTW), since the
policy was put in place so as to not overburden the folks at Corporate
    Personel.

As to abtaining a guide, if you were to say CALL CRO, MAKE a
RESERVATION and REQUEST a MKC GUIDE, gee I wouldn't be surpised to see
one come with you confirmation receipt (or shortly thereafter ;^)).

There is definitely some kind of shortage going on. If you are going
in the near future I would use 'other' means thatn waiting on your site
PSA or MSO to cough up a card! If you have the means walk-in works
very well at different site PSA office. I'm not sure how they feel
about telephone calls asking for them from people at different sites.
Shouldn't really make a difference, Personnel is the same for digital
no matter what site they're at, right.

I just managed to get one at site different than where my office is.
Took three tries, I can definitely tell you MRO, LKG, and PKO
don't have cards. AKO1 was the ticket for me.....The new card I
got expires May 1993, and they had the full packet to go with it.

At one of those non-card places, I heard that the cards were in at
MSO but they had no brochures so they were waiting on them before
they distributed new ones to PSAs. The story always seems to be
that "they should be here in a week or so"..

Thanks to all the people who responded with locations to check
    for the card.

| | Re last few,

I suppose if your having trouble getting the MKC card, you could always
spend $49 (US) for the MKC Gold Card ;^)

Now that I've brought up the Gold Card, I'm not sure if it's really
worth it unless all you want is Prestige, by having a matching Gold
Card to go with your Gold Visa, Gold MasterCard or whatever.

Looking at the latest issue of Disney News I see that the cost of the
MKC Gold Card has gone up in price (now $49 vs $45), Here's what you
    get

        - Special offers and prices on ticket media at WDW and DL
        - An informative Disney Newsletter
        - Two Year Subscription to Disney News
        - 10% discount at the Disney Stores Nationwide
        - Up to 30% discount at National Car Rental and 10% on Delta
          Airlines.
        - Great savings on Premier Cruise Lines
        - Membership in Travel America at Half Price, which entitles you to
a 50% savings on hotels across Northern America (minus Anaheim CA
          and Orlando Areas of course)
        - Tote Bag
        - Key Chain
        - Luggage tag
        - Disney Vacation Video
Since I have a tent-trailer and lately the only reason I would use a
Hotel is to go to WDW or a weekend getaway the above doesn't appeal to
me, and I've seen the MKC Newsletter above about 4-6 pages of stuff
usually found in other sources (Disney News), I already get Disney News
BTW, and as to the trinkets, well I would prefer to get the ones I want
when I go the WDW ;^).

I think I'll stick with the Paper Card from Personel which cost me $0
which gives me the same benefits which the exceptions mentioned above
    thank you.

All the hotels which participate offer about 50% off the regular room

No just published Airfares. When I was making my air reservations last
fall, Delta wanted $410 r/t for Boston Ma-Orlando Fl, with the MKC

> Delta ads claim 4 days/3 nights with car and airfare for $399.
First off this was back in Sept '91, when I needed to have confirmed
reservation for an April vacation that by the way just happenned to be
a School vacation week during a very busy time of the year. (at least
historically that is, week after Easter) I wasn't about to wait to
Feb/March sales (which haven't materialized yet for the time I'm
travelling) to take the chance I could get flights on the days I
wanted. Instead I paid the fare and hope the would go down and get a
refund, but at least I know I will be travelling on the days I want.

Second I'm staying on site (Port Orleans) and traveling from a Saturday
thru the following weekend (Sunday). Those fare quoted above are
most likely midweek travel with lodging on International drive. I
couldn't travel midweek since I didn't want to take my son out of
school (schooling is more important that WDW in my opinion) and I have
no desire to stay on International Drive. While I was checking midweek
round trip fares was about $325, so 3 nights lodging at one of the
cheap hotels on I-Drive plus air (mid-week) divided by two people (most
if not all of these type of adds are based on double occupancy) would
    be around $399 to start.

In other words you get what you pay for.

Tony Lapointe just mentioned to me that while he was at The Character

    policy.

Apparently the policy wavered back and forth and is still up in the air
but Tony did say that they were honoring the card as recently as last
    week.

My advice is ASK FIRST. I would especially ask if I had a gold card. My
feeling is that the gold card may be honored after the regular card is
    no longer honored.

Just about THE only disappointment was the disclosure by cast personnel
that, with the exception of ticket prices at WDW, the only place the MKC

There is no longer a discount provided when purchasing anything else

This was revealed in The Character Store at the Village Marketplace.
The cast member indicated that this policy changed during October '93.

| 2.155 | 1994 MKC News | WREATH::SCOPA |  | Mon Nov 29 1993 15:48 | 37 |
| | There are some new benefits for 1994 MKC members. Here are a few:

     - MKC members can receive 10-30% discounts on select WDW Resort hotel
       nightly rates.

     - Starting in 1994 PO, DL, and the CBR are also included for MKC
discounts. You can get 10% off regular club saver dates between
14-Aug-1994 and 27-Aug-1994. Also, you can now get 10% off the value
club saver rates from 28-Aug-1994 to 19-Dec-1994 and from 2-Jan-1995
       to 11-Feb-1995.

     - The Magic Kingdom Club has recognized the opening of the Wilderness
Lodge and All-Star Resorts for next Summer. The Wilderness Lodge
will have 729 rooms. The All-Star Resorts will have (gulp) 3840
rooms (three-story buildings). Four-Day packages for the Wilderness
Lodge start at about $500 per person to $800 per person depending
upon the package you get. I did not see any prices for the All-Star
Resorts. The 1994 MKC Membership Guide does show pictures of rooms
from these two new resorts. The WL room looks comfy although it
doesn't appear to be that much bigger from say a room at the CBR.
The All-Star Resort room looks long and narrow...real simple.

     - Also mentioned is "Mickey's Fountain Spectacular" (mentioned
elsewhere in the conference) and "The Magical World of Barbie" stage
       show.

     - MKC members can save $5 on tickets to the B&TB Broadway Musical
opening up in NY City at the Palace Theater on 9-MAR-1994. Tix range
       from $20 to $65.

     - Also...."There is no Club discount in shops at the Disney Theme
Parks, Resorts, or the Disney Village Marketplace at Walt Disney
       World."

The new phone number for The Magic Kingdom Club is (714) 520-2500.

Discount ticket program ends June 30

Digital's Human Resource Organization has decided to end the
Employee Activities discount ticket program effective June 30.
The decision was made after careful review of the allocation of
its resources in light of the company's challenge to achieve
   profitability.
Ticket requests received after June 17 will be returned to the
sender. All requests received up to June 17 will be filled on a
   first-come, first-served basis.
This decision affects all of Employee Activities' discount
programs, including theater and museum tickets, the Disney amusement
parks, Busch Gardens and related discount cards, or similar special
   programs and offerings.

The "Gold Card" from what I have read is a normal "GOLD" credit card
issued by Disney. At $49.00 for a 2 year ownership which includes a
a subscription to the Disney Magazine. There are also some other
benfits like a reduced rate on Disney Resort Hotels "Off-Season".

I'm not sure what the interest rate is on purchases.

The Gold Card is not a credit card it identifies people who are willing to
shell out $49 every two years for 10, 20, 30% discounts on Disney stuff. The
percentage depends on the stuff. You also get a subscription to a magazine. It
was called the Disney News but they just changed the format and name and I
can't remember it off the top of my head. The new one is much better than the
old one.
I've been a member of the Magic Kindom Club about three years. If you spend any
real money at the Disney Store or are planning a trip to one of the theme parks
it's worth it.

I believe my last renewal was also $49. I could be wrong.

discount on CBR, PO, and DL resorts for MKC members.

To get more detailed information about the savings, call 714-520-2500

    facts.
After I heard that it will take 4-6 weeks for delivery, and after I
heard that I will get a generous discount of 2$ for a One-Day Pass and
some amazing 10% discount in Disney stores (but only when they are NOT
located in or around Disney world), I decided that I will use the 59$
for a nice dinner in Orlando...
I mean getting the 2$ discount is nice when it's for free (as it was

| | When calculating the ROI, you need to also include the discounts

off the Fort Wilderness Trailers (which for 12 nights more than
    pays for our gold card).

| 2.193 | MKC found me a great rate! | MAYES::GIBSON |  | Thu Aug 18 1994 10:51 | 12 |
| | We had never tried using the MKC for lodging because they didn't offer
any discounts on what I used to call the "Three Cheapies" (PO, DL,
CBR). Yesterday, just for the heck of it, I called MKC and asked about
a rate for November 12-19 for the Beach Club, king-sized bed room. It
seems the regular rate for this room is $240/night plus 10% tax, or
$264/night. MKC discounted rate is $168/night plus 10% tax or
$184.80/night! This is a savings of $554.40 for the week!

If I had done nothing else for the two-year term of the Gold Card this
would have made the investment more than worth it.

    This is the situation.

I'm getting married at the Poly on August 16, 1995 on Sunset Pointe.
Some family and friends are coming down and I was hoping to get a
vacation/room discount for them using the Gold Card. I thought I saw a
note somewhere in this conference about using the card for family and
friends. Now that I'm looking for it, I can't find it! The material I
received (yesterday) specifies spouse and immediate family use only.

My plan was to reserve rooms using my card and then having each person
pay using their own credit card. Will this work or do "they" need to
    see the actual Gold Card?

Any help in using the card to its fullest would be appreciated!

| | I have just a regular MKC card (not gold) and when I was making reservations
a couple of months back, they said I could make up to 3 reservations on my
card as long as they were all for the same dates. I think they had to be
at the same resort as well, but I'm not sure about that. You could probably
get the whole story by calling the MKC Travel Center.

advantage of the MKC discounts as far as using it for family and

This would mean making all reservations under your name.

Kissimmee/St. Cloud Convention Center brochure? Another possibility is
a Sheraton card that usually comes with MKC package. Somewhere in the
notesfile are directions how to get these cards.

booked for all days of your stay. It can be done for any number of
contiguous days, but I think there's a minumum. Could be the best of both
worlds to book partial and use those days for the good restuarants and
some boating, and conserve your money on the other days!

| | After reading 2.210, I called Salem NH (NIO) today to obtain a MKC card.
I am pleased to report they continue to have inventory of MKC cards.
H.R. has turned over responsibility to NIO Employee Activities, who
distributes the cards at their store hours in the NIO Cafeteria:

    HOURS: Tues and Thurs 12:00-12:30
                   Friday 11:30-12:30

(NIO is extremely convenient, just off Rt 93, Exit 2. DEC's driveway
is just to the left at the intersection after you get off the ramp.
Go around to the far side of the bldg to employee entrance, right near
    the Caf.)

You may pick a MKC card up for another DEC employee, but come prepared
with that person's DEC badge, home address, incl. zip and phone, so they
can fill the card out properly for use at WDW by the proper visitor.

They could not be more cheerful or friendly, despite the many calls.
If you have any questions, you can contact the following people at

There isn't one at the moment, although Jack Delbalso has offered to look

I'm at ZKO and I got a MKC card from Donna Jean in MKO a few weeks ago (see

I got my card from Scott Marshall (IOSG::MARSHALL). All I had to do was send
him a mail with the name that I want to appear on the card and the Internal

There used to be someone in Maynard who gave out the MKC cards.
That person is apparently no longer at Digital. Deaun Twogood
(@MSO) signed up with Disney as the replacement. If you'd like a
card, please send either Deaun or I a mail message with the
following info:
	Name
	Home Address (including zip code)
	Mail stop
	Badge number

| 2.238 | New Card From WDW | GRANPA::JAMES |  | Wed May 08 1996 15:59 | 8 |
| | Here's a first for me. I made reservations a couple weeks ago. When my
package arrived from WDW a new MKC card was included. My reservation is
for August and my present card expires July. Do they Know these
    things??

    I thought it was convienient.

| | I also received a new MKC card. In fact, since I have two reservations
for August, I received two cards. I do not believe it was because of
the date, since my original card does not expire till 1998. Comparing
the card and the letters included with the card, I believe it has
a lot to do with specifying exactly where the card is good and where it
is not. Specifically, it calls out that you cannot use the card in the
theme parks and in any of the hotel gift shops for the 10% discount.

I, too, recently received a new MKC card (which expires in 1998), just a week
or so after obtaining a new one from Donna Jean at MKO. I suppose it was
because I'd just made a reservation through the MKC Travel Center.
The new card that the MKC sent me directly came with a letter explaining that
this new card contained updated information about exactly where you can use the
card (as mentioned above) and that I should get rid of my previous card and use
this one until next year (or something like that). I compared the back of the
card sent by the MKC with the one I'd just gotten from Digital, and they are the
same, so I'm keeping the Digital-issued one because it has the specific Digital
chapter information; the MKC-issued one had some kind of generic chapter info.
Though it probably doesn't make that much difference, if any... (at least I hope
it doesn't! :-) )

Seems like the exclusivity of the MKC is waning.

| 2.243 | MKC Discounts for CBR/PO/DL? | DONVAN::SCOPA |  | Fri Jun 07 1996 12:41 | 10 |
| | Has anyone recentlytalked with the CRO about MKC discounts for the
resorts? I know way back when....the CBR/PO/DL group was not eligible
for the 10% discounts...but that was when rooms were $79/night.

With the recent rate hikes (standard room is $124/night for '97) I'm
wondering if the MKC discount applies.

    Hey 10% is 10%.

| | Mike, yes the MKC discount applies, however it depends on availability.
When I spoke with the CRO they couldn't give me any more info than that
since our reservations is in Apr '97.

| | I'm going to WDW next week, and I just received the Orlando Magic
Card from the 800 number as posted in the notesfile 495.*. Apparently
this card is not what I thought it was, which is the Magic Kingdom
Card. Years ago, we used the Magic Kingdom Card available from my
husband's company which gave some discount on WDW and Epcot tickets.

Do anyone know whether these card are available from personnel, and if
so, how to obtain them? I just searched vtx and couldn't find any
    information about discount tickets, etc..

    Thanks for the help,

| | Below is the text of a message I received received today from
Walt Disney World resort in Florida. I thought it might be of
interest to the readers of this file.
We at Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom Club want to take this
opportunity to clarify the current situation concerning Walt
Disney World Resort room and vacation plan discounts as presented
in the 1997 Club Membership Guide, plus share the availability of
the a discount at Disney's Fort Wilderness campsite at Walt
Disney World.
Due to the overwhelming demand for Walt Disney World vacations
during the Resort's 25th Anniversary year, we encourage you to
book your reservations today. The number of rooms and vacation
plans available at the Magic Kingdom Club discount are limited
and rooms may not be available at the discounted rates published.
So please share this information with your Club Members.
What's more, we want you and your Club Members to know about a
new Club discount on accommodations at Disney's Fort Wilderness
Resort campsites -- a special offer not published in the '97
Guide. Club Members are entitled to a special nightly
discount (depending on the date of their vacation) on
accommodations at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort campsites.

| | Yes, as we sat down in the Tiki Room, the cast member announced that it
will close in September. From what I've heard, the replacement will
not be musical. Bummer. I loved the Enchanted Tiki Birds! So does my
nephew, who is 14, and all of his friends who have been to Disney World
say it's their favorite "non thrill" attraction.

I still think the Tiki bird attraction should be a restaurant. I

had restrooms. As a restaurant, the restrooms would have been
    required)

....
As of Sept 1997, the Tiki Bird attraction will no longer
exist as we know it. It will close for the Disney Imagineers
to work their magic, then reopen in the Spring of 1998
"under new management". The new show will feature the same layout
and characters, but with a new script, music, and some
additional familiar feathered friends.
Another venue about to be transformed: Ariel's Restaurant at
Disney's Yacht Club has been closed. Watch for news about what's
coming next in Ariel's stead.
