This reminds me of a Consumer Tour I took on the SS Norway. They
paraded us around to see all of the Public rooms and a few of each
stateroom category. They showed us the two owners suites. We remarked
that there was even a small room for the children in this multi-roomed
suite. We were chided with "no, no, that room was for the servants, as
the children had staterooms of their own."
I have gone both ways, trying to cram 4 into a suite, and going for
adjoining rooms. My preference was adjoining Junior Suites on the
Norway. The price was right and it provided plenty of room and
privacy.

| Generally speaking the few suites suitable for 4 or more people are so
expensive you could purchase 2 standard rooms and have enough money
left over to book another cruise. The high end suites are almost always
for people who can afford a large room, they are not really for people
to put 4 in a room etc.
If you shop around you can get 7 day cruises on quality lines at rates
around $1000 to $1500 per person including air, based on 2 rooms for
4 people. In this arrangement you have privacy, a bath for each couple
and space to move. Remember even if the room is large you will lose
privacy, and one bath will become a bottle neck when everyone is
rushing to get ready for dinner etc. True large suites usually are
$8000 per couple and up with typical add on charges of another $700 for
each additional person beyond 2. It is easy to find $10,000 and above
suites for 7 night cruises for 2 which only have 1 bedroom and bath and
if you look at the layout are obviously set up for the well off couple and
not the family of 4.
Most suites that I have seen on cruise ships even at 5,000 per week per
person only have one bedroom, and only one bath.
You have to very careful about trying to get one large room for a
group. The cruise ship market is nothing like the land based hotel
market where there are a lot of Quest Quarters and other equivalent
suite hotels with suite prices just a little above single hotel room
prices.
I have no knowledge on diving but scuba divers need proof of
certification in many places in order to dive, so just make sure you
know what is needed before going.
