Has anyone here sailed on the QE2? We are contemplating a
trans-Atlantic sailing from London to New York and are curious about
the experience and the ship. All info appreciated.

I heard recently that the QE2 just underwent a MAJOR renovation and
before it was totally finished, they sailed with passengers across the
Atlantic. Many of the on-board systems weren't working (including
things like hot water, HVAC, you know trivial stuff that paying
customers never mind doing without). When it arrived in New York, the
Coast Guard boarded it and declared it a health hazard. I don't know if
it's got it's problems straightened out yet.
Ask some pointed questions of your travel agent before you book a
cruise on this ship.

I am well aware of those problems and am confident that any problems
will have been resolved long before we are due to sail.
I have toured the ship but not sailed on her and am looking forward to
hearing the experiences of anyone who has. Also, trans-Atlantic
crossings in general.
