| | hi
WE JUST CAME BACK FROM A CRUISE ON THE COSTA ALLERGA OUT OF SAN JUAN.
WE HAD A GOOD TIME, BUT WAS VERY DISAPOINTED IN THE CRUISE LINE.
THERE WAS A LACK OF ACTIVITIES, BREAKFAST BUFFETS WERE THE SAME
EVERY DAY AND JUST AS COLD AS THE DAY BEFORE. ROOMS WERE VERY SMALL.
ENTERTAINMENT WAS BORING. THIS WAS MY FIFTH CRUISE, SO I GUESS I
AM SPOILED FROM THE OTHER SHIPS. THE MOST EXCITING THING THAT
HAPPENED WAS WE GOT STRANDED IN SAN JUAN BECAUSE OF THE BLIZZARD
BACK HOME. WE HAD A GREAT TIME THERE.

Well, just got back from my 7 days aboard the Classica and I have to
agree with the other notes. Nothing that great about COSTA at all..met
a few people who had thier luggage lost and in some cases never made
it to the ship at all. Activities were lame..the ONLY outdoor things
they had were shuffleboard a couple times and a horserace one day..
that was it!..indoor activities included bingo, some italian cooking
and language classes and that was about the extent of it..nightly
shows were OK from what i heard..didn't get to many of them..ones
we did go to we walked out of. Food (dinner) was good..but the dining
room is wide open and was VERY noisy....too loud to even hear people
talking at the other side of our table..our waiter wasn't too good..we
think he was just new and slow because of that..we found ourselves to
be about the last table in the dining room to leave every night..but
that was OK i guess. Prices of drinks and beer were pretty high..was
paying almost $3.00 for a 12oz beer and $5 to $6 for a mixed drink.
much higher than i've paid even in Mass. where we're known for
expensive booze! Found the service people to be not really that
friendly...sure you find that anyplace you go but this was more than
usual...found myself getting my own drinks on deck much more often
    than i should have..they just weren't around..and it wasn't because
others kept them busy...the deck wasn't all that crowded..
it is an older crowd..i'd say the Americans averaged around mid 50's
or so and the Italians (about 50% of the crowd) were from 30's up..
Had some rough seas the first couple days out and many folks got sick
but that isn't something the boat has control of..it just happened..
also met a fair amount of people that were cruising for free because
Costa screwed their previous cruise up so bad they let them come back
as a goodwill gesture...didn't work!..lost a womans luggage on the
first cruise..lost it again on the freebie!

all in all...the weather was good...but i'd say i'd look to a different
cruise line for my next cruise.

| | 5 to 6 bucks for a mixed drink is high, was that a standard like
a screwdriver ?? My last cruise it was $2.75 for a simple
mixed drink 6 months ago. The most exotic ones which including a
nice class to keep was only about $5. I think beer was 2.50, this was RCCL.

Because of the price of cruises has been low in a lot of cases the
cruise lines make up by increasing other prices. I've been cruising
since 1985. The last few years I've paid less for the same or better
rooms for my cruises but everything else is higher.
The port charges are higher, drinks, photos, excursions etc.
