| I've never had any experience on this ship or line but have been on
6 cruises. It wasn't clear if this is your first cruise. Generally
the average age on all cruise ships is up there. I believe any where
from the late 40's to late 50's. This doesn't mean there will not
be a good group of younger single people which there usually are.
There are really not that many honeymoners on a typical cruise,
probably 5% at tops. You
may be careful of certain dates however. Any week which lines up
with a school vacation can bring a large increase in children. I
cruised with a lot of children, it is not always the greatest idea. I
have a 6 year old and went on the Disney cruise when she was 3. It is
a good cruise for a family but there were older couples and
honeymooners there, for what reason I have no idea. An example, our
first cruise was on the SS Norway (NCL) Jan 85. That ship is large,
1900 passengers, the week we went there were 100 children, good number
for size of ship, the week before (Dec 31 to Jan7), 500 kids, too many.
When there are too many kids you get such side affects as a large
group of children running across you heads as you sit in the whirlpool,
etc.
I believe that typically there will be more single women than men on
a cruise. I think single women are better at getting each other to go
as a group. I am sure you found out it is quite expensive if you wanted
to have a cabin all to yourself. If this is your first cruise and
unless you have a unusually large room, remember it will be cramped for
4 people in one cabin. The worst time will be when everyone decides to
get ready for the evening at the same time. The typical bath in a cabin
is amazingly small. Two people at once would require very slender and
very flexible bodies. Your typical bath at home is as large as the
whole cabin on a cruise ship. Other than that it is ok because you
usually are not in your cabin much anyway.
I know some cruise lines like Carnival try to attract a younger group,
even their average age is up there.
My wife and I go on our 7th cruise in a few weeks, Dec. 7 Sovereign of
the Seas, RCCL from Miami. The deal was too good to pass up. Overall
all of our cruises have been good.
