    I was curious about  the quality of food and entertainment on the
    different cruise lines. I had two cruises on the NCL SUNWARD II
    and found the food and entertainment to be great but when I took
    a 1988 Easter Cruise on the CARNIVAL (HOLIDAY) I was very dissapointed
    
    1. mediocre food (my opinion but shared by several other muti-cruisers)
    2. rushed dinner service (early seating)
    3. so-so entertainment
    4. crowded conditions (Long lines and lack of deck chairs)
    
    I would like to know if those of you who have tried various cruise
    lines (basis of comparison) found much difference between the lines
    or even a variance between ship of the same line.
    
    To be fair about it, there were other passengers ( generally first
    timers) who thought everything was great.
    
    After a strong letter of complaint to Carnival I did receive a partial
    refund.
    
    The facilities and decor of the HOLIDAY were very nice.
    
    Let's here about those comparisons.

	There is a difference in cruise lines. That is why you also see differences in price, advertising, age groups attracted to various lines ... etc. Although there are people who think this line is pretty good CARNIVAL is not usually the choice line for seasoned cruisers. I've yet to hear a single person whose has been on several cruises say that CARNIVAL's was top. With CARNIVAL taking over so many lines recently, I became very concerned. But it looks like they are not going to change the characteristics of the various lines they've acquired, for now anyway.

	As a seasoned cruiser, I'm concerned that Carnival may not be up to par with RCCL and some of the other lines I've been on. I'm booked on the Jubilee for the February school vacation and am counting on the children's program to be as advertised. Ro

	As a nonseasoned cruiser, I went on the Jubilee last May and I can't say enough about the Trip! The crew was super, very friendly, and we went dancing with them the night we were in San Juan. I suggest talking with the crew to find out the best places to see/go/do in particularly San Juan and St.Thomas. From reading the notes file it definitely seems that the Carnival cruise line is the best for singles around the twenties age range. I hope your family enjoys the cruise! Lisa

	In regards to the quality and choices of ships, I would like to say that only by comparison could I make choice of what I think is a "good" cruise. I sailed on Carnival,Home Lines, and Chandris. ----------------------------------------------------------- LINE: HOME CARNIVAL CHANDRIS ----------------------------------------------------------- Courtesy: 10 5 8 ----------------------------------------------------------- Food: 10+ 5 9 ----------------------------------------------------------- Shipshape: 10 2 8 ----------------------------------------------------------- Entertainment: 5 5 10 ----------------------------------------------------------- Price/Value: 9 5 10 ----------------------------------------------------------- Activities: 8 7 9 ----------------------------------------------------------- Sail again: Y* N Y ----------------------------------------------------------- Unfortunately the Home Line has been sold to Holland America. From what i've read, Holland was bought by Carnival. Carnival appeals to many people so therefore I wouldn't argue that they enjoyed their cruise on Carnival. I just happened to have a disasterous cruise with them. By comparison I saw Home Lines far above Carnival in total overall quality. Chandris was a very good line, and I thought that they were an exceptional value. Some friends of mine just returned from a "Soveriegn of the Seas" cruise. Their impression was that the service was fair, food adequate, and not really outstanding. The ship itself was beautiful they said. When asked if they would return to it, they said no. One last comment. When shopping for a cruise, I found that whatever difference you find in price is only slight in comparison to quality. Spend the extra bucks, don't cut corners, you are worth the best! Bon Voyage, Dennis
