Are your Irons marked DX Power Pyramid (Yellow imprint)? The clubs are no
longer available through MacGregor, I believe that they were 1990
close-outs. Good clubs from what I understand, basic Investment cast,
Ping wanna-be. The next step up in the Macgregor line would be the CG
1800's, which incidently are close-outs also. I believe the VIP and
VIP "Tour" forged blade is the newest "upper end" replacement. The
shaft that you currently have is a lightweight regular shaft (similar
to a TT Gold Plus regular 200).

| I bought a set of these clubs in the mid-80's. I paid $265 for the
set which included 3-PW and 1,3,5 persimmon woods (at N.E. golf in
Auburn). The next year I saw the same clubs at Spag's, except they had
the power pyramid thing on them and metal woods instead of persimmon
woods for $235. I think that they're pretty much bottom line but ok to
learn with.

| I dunno 'bout those clubs, but I would guess that they are not impeding
your progress. My opinion is that you can enjoy and excell at this game
by just trying to master the basics, and most golf clubs will allow you
to do that. I shoot 'bogey golf' and I love to play. I've been beaten
badly by guys with much older/dated equipment than I have (Tour Model II
Ping copies). My game improved when I switched to the Tour Model
perimeter weighted clubs, so they get my vote, but I think they actually
let me get away with more flawed swings than I used to, but I'll take it!
BTW, the first time I broke 90 I had sole weighted Wilson Blue Ridge
cheapos.

I own a set of MacGeggor, "Jack Nicholas CG1800's" The
DX's were and earlier model. I love my CG1800's... I just
recentely went back to them from a set of tourblades I bought
a few years ago. I love the tour blades but the CG1800's are
alot more forgiving. I did see them at SPAGS for $269.00 or so..
