    The weight distribution appears different. Larger back cavity and more 
    perimeter weight. These are reportedly not shippable until March.
    "Designed to propel the ball better" Wish he would be more specific.

    
    The bulge in the top of the toe is also much smaller. This weight
    was redistributed. Must have had to many people saying that the
    bulge was "UGLY".
    

    I was hoping (he said selfishly) that they might have designed the new
    clubs with me in mind.  I really dislike the way the the Zings feel in
    my hand, which certainly does not promote confidence...  From shopping
    around a great deal I know there are a lot of Eye-2 players who do not
    like the Zings either and Karsten would love to find the right
    combination to get *us* to buy the next Ping generation iron.

    .2: Also noted more weight in the heel. This all translates to a 
    lower center of gravity. With a lower CG the ball is gonna fly higher.

    FYI - Production for Ping is 10% EYE and 90% ZING. So, Karsten is
    putting many eggs in one basket.

    Check the add out for the Zing 2's.  Ping seems to be touting this as a
    NEW club.  New Look, New Feel, etc.

    Yesterday was the first day I got to see the new Zing 2's, hold 'em,
    and give 'em a few swings.  I have absolutely fallen in love with these
    clubs.  They are going to be tremendously popular.
    
    At first glance, they look very much like the original Zings, except
    the bulbous end on the top of the blade is almost gone, the face is a
    bit more square, and the weight distribution is a bit different.  It is
    a much cleaner looking club than before.  But, that's not the big
    difference.  The big difference is holding the club at address and the
    overall feel.  I very much disliked the look and feel of the old Zings
    and how they tended to flop back at address.  The 2's sit up straight
    and actually seem to close a bit rather than opening up as before.
    
    Once I held these in my hands I was sold, and so were the clubs.  Now,
    to wait for the snow to melt.
    
    BTW - Ping's recommended retail is $90 per club, which will be
    increased this coming may.  I bought them for just a few dollars more
    than the older Zings. 'Old Zings', boy does that sound strange.

    	Well, I just broke down and used some of the insurance refund to
    buy myself a set of Zing2 clones at Heavy Hitters in Windham. I went
    there yesterday to check out stock and try to hit a few "weapons"
    before deciding what to get. I was looking into clones, I'm not THAT
    good a golfer that I need the real thing for the added price... I tried
    hitting the Titleist DCI, a DCI clone, Eye2 clone, Tommy Armour 757
    clone, and the Zing2 clone. This Zing2 clone is called Z-model. I was
    looking at a picture in the pro shop there of a Zing2 and really
    couldn't see any difference... Anyways, hit 5 irons for all of them.
    They put tape on the face and sole of the Zing2 clone. I was leaning
    towards the DCI clone until I hit the Zing2 clone. Since I had tape on
    it, I could see where I was hitting. I hit a couple out towards the
    toe and one in on the heel and some "dead solid perfect" and really
    didn't feel a lot of difference they were so forgiving. I was sold.
    They had a sale that ended yesterday with $50 off each set of clubs.
    I could have picked up the DCI clones for $149 but spent the extra
    and got the Zing2 clones for $239. Still not bad, $30/club. Now if
    spring would only hurry up! BTW, it was the only set they had. They
    bought it from a clubmaker they deal with and he had picked up the
    heads at some golf expo he attended.

    Uh, oh, Keith -- I'd better give you more clearance on those parallel
    fairways at PCC this year, eh??  :-)

    I recall the Z-Models I looked at being clones on the original Zings.
    Didn't realize they copied the Zing-2's already.  Do they call them
    Z-Model 2's, or something like that?
    

    	The Z-model I bought didn't have that big bulb on the tip that
    made it look like George Archer's nose. I compared the Zing clone
    vs the Zing2 as they had both models. You could see the difference,
    although I  didn't notice what they called the Zing clones.

    Amazing that the copies are out already.  Good luck with the clubs. 
    What kind of shaft did the club maker use for your clubs?

    	I've got stiff shafts on these clubs. Can't remember the type of
    shaft, but it's made in England. Grips look like the Ping grips too!

    Does anyone know which component company puts out these z-model heads?
    
    I have catalogs from golfworks, golfsmith, ut golf, and dynacraft.
    None of these places carries the z-model.  I also saw/hit a 745 copy
    called the "735".  Again, none of the component companies I have 
    catalogs for sells these.  Any pointers?

    Can it be true that nobody here knows who sells the z-model heads or
    are all you clubmakers holding out? ;-).
    
    I haven't been able to find the names of any other component companies
    other than the ones listed in the previous note.

    Give Nevada Bob's or Golf USA a call and ask who supplies them with the
    Z-Model.  Hey, you can always ask.
    

    Just for future reference:
    
    I called Karsten yesterday (I think the Old Guy answered himself!) and
    inquired about the shaft butt size because I wanted to replace the Ping
    Zing 2 Dylagrip's with Tour Wrap Cords.
    
    I was told that since the latest Eye-2's to date, the Ping iron butt
    size is .610.  That means the closest Tour Wrap Cord I could get for
    regripping is .600.  Seems like most grips are .580 or .600.  My
    understanding is that a .580 would end up to be larger in diam. than
    the .600 due to expansion over a bigger (.610) shaft.
    
    Personally, I cannot get used to the Dylagrips that normally ship with
    Pings.  I don't much care for pulling off white strips every so often
    either.  Once I tried the Tour Wrap CORDS I was hooked, er, rather,
    sold.  Let it rain, let it snow...  the Tour Wrap Cords are unreal, but
    pricey.
