    I am not going to answer your specific question since I have never
    played the TM  irons.

    My main comment is, and this may not be my business but since you
    asked :-), why are you looking for a new set? I don't think you'll
    notice any difference between a top set and a good set like the
    Wilson 1200.  I know, since when I was about a 22, I switched from  a
    good perimeter-weighted cast iron set to Pings and I could notice any
    significant chance in my game. I lowered my handicap just by
    practicing and playing a lot.

    BTW: I also have TM's 3 and 5 "burner" woods and like them a lot. I
    got a 9.5 graphite-shafted burner driver and is too strong for me,
    so I use a gentler driver. (Anyone interested in a little-used left
    handed TM driver?)

| 1397.2 | what about grip and shaft? | HOBBLE::MCFARLAND |  | Thu Nov 14 1991 14:06 | 13 |
|  |     my .02:

    Both the 1200's and the Taylor's are permiter weighted, although the
    Taylor's don't look it (they're actually hollow, with weight
    distributed accordingly). What's more important is
    differences/similarities in shaft flex and grip size, which are, for
    me anyway, the two most important factors in an iron. You might want
    to consider having a pro determine if the shaft and grip in the 1200's
    suits you or not. In other words, don't buy a new set of clubs just
    for the head - get the proper shaft and grip first, and the head won't
    matter that much.

| 1397.4 | Taylor Tour Burner Midsize Irons | FSOA::SWANEY | She pulls your eyes out with a face like a magnet | Sat Jul 10 1993 19:35 | 14 |

    Let's get this topic going!

    I'm really interested in the new Taylor "Tour Burner Midsize" irons
    they are a little bigger and are cavity back with a foam filling.

    I think the mid-size will help my game a little but what about this
    cavity filling of foam, is this a first? any comments or concerns?

    thanks

| 1397.5 | very very nice club | ATEIS::MILLER |  | Mon Jul 26 1993 13:25 | 18 |

    	I have played the club in a 5 iron with both the Loomis Graphite
    	Shaft and the Dynalite Steel shaft. The club head is very
        forgiving....rides the turf smoothly....and absorbs shock better
    	than any other iron I have ever played...especially in the Graphite
    	version....distance was about an addition 10 yards...did notice
        that I (right-handed golfer) was still able to draw and even hook
    	the ball but fades/slices did not much at all...found that if I
    	open the club on the downswing I was hitting the graphite version
    	about 145-150 soft right...a resonable swing thru and I was hitting
    	about 155-160....and if I flattened a bit and came aroung I could
    	hit it about 170 or more...

    	If you have a chance to play at Sterling...you might ask if you can
    	take their demo set up to the range..
