    OK Guys and Gals,...Here is the latest (actually the first) news on this
 years DEC Corporate Cup Golf Tournament.

    As you know the Salem/Hoodkroft Golf League was the winner of the coveted
trophy of this annual tournament and is hosting this years (1991) event. 

    Let me introduce myself, I am George Stanley (the worst player on last 
years team) and I have been passed the gauntlet from Gene Kelley to organize
and run this years event. I am located at GSF in Hudson New Hampshire and can 
be reached on node WAGON::STANLEY and  or at DTN 264-2561.

    The golfing season has already started (well at least for some of the more
hearty souls) and many of the DEC leagues around the area are in the initial 
stages of getting started, so now is the time to plan on entering a team into 
this years Corporate Cup Tournament. The more teams the better!!!

    Here is the tentative information for this years event as we are still in 
the final stages of getting everything finalized. I say we for I am getting 
some super help from Gene's wife Pat.

    I plan to use the modified slope system based upon the individuals league
handicap and the slope rating from their league course and convert to a 
comparable slope rating/handicap for the event golf course.

    The DEC Corporate Cup Tournament will be held at Charmingfare Country Club
the sight of the first tournament. I will provide directions in another message.

    The tentative date is 21 June 1991, a Friday, and we are trying to get rain
dates for 28 June, 12 or 19 July 1991. It would be impossible to get the course
for the 5th of July and that is a heavy vacation week for Digital.

    Cost will be 45.00 per person, which is my best estimate at this time. This
includes greens fees, cart, 3 golf balls (brand not known) and  tees. This cost 
will also cover the banquet and prizes, although we do not have a menu to 
choose from as yet.

     Six member teams selected via each leagues own process. Each league should
     also have some alternates in case of last minute cancellations.

     No two league members from the same league in the same foursome...

     Prizes and awards same as last year ....   I might need help on this...

     I need a rough head count ASAP so I can give the course an idea of how many
     tee times and carts will be needed. Also need this count for the banquet
     and it will help determine the amount awarded for prizes.

     One last note and that is even though Gene will not be representing Salem
this year, the Salem/Hoodkroft League will not give up the trophy easily. You 
all will have to win it away if you can... How is that for a challenge.  

Let's hear it from all you leagues wanting to kick my backside for such a rash 
statement...

Notification of the postponement of the tournament will be made as soon in advance as possible. In the case of freak weather conditions the day of the tournament, the decision to cancel or postpone will be made at the course before or during play by a quorum of team captains. Cost will be 50.00 per person, which is my best estimate at this time. This includes greens fees, cart, 3 golf balls (brand not known) and tees. 	Hi, my name is Gordi Rogers and a member of the ASO contingent coming down to the Corporate league tourney but we haven't heard anything since this note was first published. I believe I remember how to get there but could we have some directions? Are the tee times set? A couple of us are coming down Thursday for a practice round and would like to know what is happening before Wednesday....anyone know what is going on with this tournament??? Thanks, in advance. 	I'd like to thank George Stanley for a job well done with the 1991 corporate cup tourney. Although we (Salem league) could have made a better showing it was a fun day that went off real smooth. Great job George. Mike PS...where are all you SHR guys??? With the beating you gave everyone I figured you'd be in here reclaiming your prize!!!! We'll let you give the gorry details!!!
