I would like to replace the wedge,or Equalizer as its better known, to my
set of 1979 Hogan Apex II irons.

No, I don't expect you guys (or gals?) to have a spair laying around in your 
closet.

I don't know this area very well, and I am hoping that you can give me the name
and location of golf shops that deal with alot of used clubs, so that I can call
them.  I am sending my set in to get refinished, swingweighted, and loft & lie
adjusted so the condition of this wedge doesn't matter.

Oh yeah, I am located in central Mass.

	I struck out with Ted (The Club Man) Vecchione, but the Hogan company referred me to two "club finders" as they call 'em. I called one and he says he is 99% sure he can find me a replacement within a few days. These "club finder" operations sound pretty sophisticated. They are set up for mail orders with no hassles, so I thought I would pass on this information to anyone else who may be in search of that long lost wedge or 5-iron to their favorite set. Or if you have an extra $500 to a $1000 bucks lying around, and don't buy into all the new club technology hype, I'm sure these folks could set you up with an 8802 putter, or a eye-o-matic driver, or an R-90 sand iron,..... 	Gee, I just got an 8802 which I'd had my eye on all year and it was only $50.00, does this mean it won't put as well as the original??? :^)...

	I've had original 8802's and a Wilson "Designed by Arnold Palmer." I love classics, and these were GREAT putters, but I think some of the new stuff is balanced better and has a softer "feel." I've heard that the George Low "Wizard 600" felt lousy, but that's what Nicklaus grew up using, and used for many of his Major wins, hence its value. --Jack

	Since we are turning this into a classic club topic I have a story about putters that I found interesting. Concerning the Bullseye putters, I was told that the older models have a softer head than the newer models and that is why so many pros using Bulllseyes prefer the older model. They claim it has better feel. Anyone know if this is true ? Mad Hacker

	re -1 I have an old (if 1968 is old?) flange bullseye that I love the feel and looks of. I searched years for this particular model/era to replace the putter that I learned to putt with as a youngster. The only reason I don't have the original one is because my uncle took it back after giving it to me when his putting went south for a while. About new bullseyes, I don't like the looks of them at all. My old one certainly looks softer. But I imagine the softer looks are due to the aging of the metal. I am sure these kind of visual perceptions can have alot to due with the way a person says a putter feels also. The are some minor but significant differneces in the head shape of the newer models. The newer ones are smaller and have rounder edges than mine. This destroys some of the great simplistic visual keys of a bullseye. The length of the old head was about four and a quarter inches, which is the diameter of the cup. What a coincidence! The sharper angles also help me in aligning the putter face. Back to the feel. To tell the truth I have never bothered stroking a putt with one of the new models because I never got passed the looks. However I have noticed that my old bullseye has the softest feeling shaft by far of any of my putters. The shaft will affect overall putter feel tremendously. All this new shaft hype has led us from stiff to stiffer even in the putters. Maybe acushnet has gotten on this stiff shaft band wagon with their newer models which would be too bad. BTW. I currently use a 8802 remake and I had a chance to compare it with an original recently. I aggree with Jack, the new ones are balanced better and have a softer feel. ---- Rick.
